Now that GTA 5 has launched, could an announcement for Red dead redemption be on cards. The rumors have started with a listing on the LinkedIn profile of Rockstar New England employee Doron Feinstein, which mentions the “next version of a famous IP”, in development since at least September 2010. Could John or Jack Marston be getting ready to ride again? One small and decidedly vague sentence isn’t much to go on, granted, but when it’s combined with various other bits and bobs gleaned over the last year or more, it certainly begins to look like a Red Dead Redemption sequel isn’t a case of if, but of when. First off, Rockstar began hiring for a next generation console project way back at the start of 2012, long before the Xbox One had been revealed and way bef...

Wouldn’t you think that the people making the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ movie would pick an actor who has at the least has played the game. Well, you’d be wrong if you thought so. Cause actor Michael Fassbender is all set to star in the Assassin’s Creed: The Movie, even though he has never played the game. In a recent interview the actor said that the roles in movies such as X-Men and Prometheus have given him the freedom to explore less commercial pieces. When asked about pre-production on the film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, Fassbender said: “That’s definitely happening. We’re just developing the script at the moment. I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player … that’s not what they’re called. [Laughs] I met up with the guy...
Sony had confirmed at E3 that the PlayStation 4 would give owners the option to remove and upgrade the built-in hard drive, and now they’ve shown us how. PC enthusiast websiteComputer Bild has put up detailed photos of the PS4’s removable housing and HDD tray. According to the post, it seems like the hard drive is placed underneath the glossy exterior panel on top of the device which can be removed via torx screwdriver. Like the PS3, the system uses a 2.5″ laptop hard drive, which should enable users to upgrade the system with a solid state drive, provided they’re willing to go through the trouble and incur the expense. Riley is coming for you, Trevor – he’s got your scent. And as for you, Michael, you should keep an eye out for scary men with painted faces and over-designed rifles, hiding behind your shower curtain. Infinity Ward might be fairly laidback about GTA 5’s Call of Duty parody, but publisher Activision has urgent designs on Rockstar’s sales record. “Congratulations to the team at Rockstar for their success,” UK senior brand manager Kevin Flynn told MCV, doubtless while grinning like a shark. “We look forward to getting the record back before the next GTA title.” Is it too much to describe this as a pop at Rockstar’s inability to match Call of Duty’s rate of release? Probably it is, but still: handbags! Do you think COD Ghosts will be ...
Eidos Montreal has more or less confirmed that it’s scrapping Thief’s XP leveling system following negative feedback from the fans. Game Director Nic Cantin and Lead Level Designer Daniel Windfeld Schmidt confirmed that this feature was to be removed in a community Q & A on the studio’s website, and in fact saying that they were “happy” to make the announcement. “At first, we wanted to outline the progression of the player with XP, but it was reducing our motivation to steal,” explained Cantin. “The main goal of a thief should be to gain loot. Garrett is already the Master Thief, so we saw no need to have XP as a core mechanic.” “We wanted to put emphasis on stealing things, and put the rewards on the stealing aspect,̶...

Dead Rising 3 has been banned from being released in Germany by the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle. Capcom Vancouver’s Xbox One launch game apparently did not receive an age rating during its software regulation review, according to Games Welt and confirmed to Destructoid by Microsoft. Traditionally speaking, video game violence is constantly under the scanner and is always kept on a close watch. Dead Rising’s absurd, over-the-top gore has prevented Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 from publishing in Germany previously. Source: IGN
