In a recent interview with Console Obsession about their game Dangerous Golf, Three Fields Entertainment Creative Director Alex Ward had said that the game wasn’t doing so well, it hadn’t sold a lot of copies and the team couldn’t afford to do anything else with it. Basically, the studio was giving up on the title. When asked what they would like to do next, he said,”It’s no secret that we’d like to get going on a driving title.”
This is what he tweeted in a post yesterday.
Work has begun on a driving game.

Though there isn’t any more information available about that right now, it comes as big news because Three Fields Entertainment was founded by the Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry, the co-founders of Criterion Games, who were behind the critically acclaimed Burnout games. They had been making racing games for thirteen years before they went on to experiment with Dangerous Golf, and with this new title, it seems like they will be returning to their roots. However, as the franchise is still owned by EA Games, this won’t exactly be another Burnout title.
Talking about Dangerous Golf’s sales numbers, here’s what Ward had to say when asked whether he was satisfied with how the game was doing, “No, not yet. We pooled our life savings to start our studio and to start making games. We’re a 100% player supported Studio. Every copy sold directly supports our 11 person development team. The money goes to the people who actually make the game. So a big thank you to everyone who has bought our work so far!”
While their little detour may have misfired, it will certainly be interesting to see the studio come back to what they do best and what they bring to us in another driving game.
