Xbox boss Phil Spencer said Microsoft might announce the next batch of Xbox 360 games playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility this week. But that’s not going to happen.
“I apologize,” Spencer said Friday evening on Twitter to a fan who asked if the news was still coming this week. “Looks like backwards compatibility news is delayed and will likely come next week. Again, sorry for the delay.”
The Backward Compatibility update is available for XBox One for preview program members only. The update will be rolled out for everyone in November,at which time there will be more than 100 available games. And in addition to that, all future Xbox 360 games with gold titles will be backward compatible starting in November.
In july, Criterion games said that it would like to bring Burnout Paradise to Xbox One, Ubisoft has also talked about bringing some back-catalog games to the new platform. In addition to all this, EA is also interested in bringing some Xbox 360 games to Xbox one through EA access.
Fans also really want Red Dead Redemption to be made playable on Xbox One. With more than 87,000 votes, Rockstar’s 2010 western action game sits near the top of Microsoft’s most-requested backwards compatibility voting page, behind only Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
