Arkham Knight PC Fiasco: WB Apologises, Offers Refunds, Pulls Game from Sale

Arkham Knight PC Fiasco: WB Apologises, Offers Refunds, Pulls Game from Sale

In a rather generous and consumer friendly turn of events, Rocksteady apologised for the much maligned sub-par PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight and recommended players t claim a refund from Steam. Green Man Gaming also started giving out refunds.

At first, WB simply re-released the system requirements and asked fans to wait for the patch. The post can be found here. It advised players to:

  • Bump down the resolution to 720p
  • To turn all settings down to Low
  • To disable Nvidia Gameworks features
  • And to not tweak the .ini files to unlock the framerate and other options which were not in the in-game menu

It also gave out some outlandish minimum system requirements for a game running at 720p and on Low. The Minimum card was a GTX 660 with 3GBs of VRAM, the Recommended card was a 770 (Again a 3GB variant) and for Ultra, a 980 is required. Also, AMD hardware was noticeably absent from the list, as the game suffers numerous issues on AMD cards.

Arkham Refund

Then today, another blog post went up on the Arkham knight Forums. It can be viewed here, and is also capped below. In it, the B:AK community manager Yorick apologised to PC gamers and asked for patience while they fix the game. In there, he announced that WB Games has decided to temporarily discontinue sales until the problems are fixed. He also suggested refunds for dissatisfied customers.

This is a very welcome step and we at Gaming Central applaud WB Games for putting the consumer before their own profit margins.
