Overview: Thermaltake Smart RGB 700W PSU (80 Plus)

Like it or not, RGB is here to stay. And with every component in your system flashing those pretty lights, it would be unfair to leave the PSU out of the party. The Thermaltake Smart RGB 700W is a high-end PSU in the Smart RGB line, featuring 10 LED lights capable of producing a full 256 colour RGB cycle. It comes with 80 Plus certification, which ensures efficient energy use in your system, with 80-87% efficiency at 20-100% load. It is a compact PSU, about 150mm in length and 140mm in width with a black finish. There is a single 120mm translucent fan to bring out the RGB lighting.

There’s a significant number of vents to allow for proper ventilation, and on the back, next to the power button, you can find the RGB lighting button. Thankfully, there’s an on-board memory as well, so you don’t have to fumble towards the back and press the RGB button every time you turn on the system. Installation is quite easy and standard, but as it’s not a modular PSU you’ll have to do some hefty cable management.

Thankfully, it’s not too bright and goes well with our system. Pressing the RGB lighting button cycles through different colours and effects, including a breathing colour cycle. You can switch between modes at the press of a button. At the price of INR 6250, it’s only 800 bucks more expensive than the non-RGB Thermaltake TR2 Series 700W SMPS, making it a great choice for gamers looking to add a little more bling to their PC without spending too much.
