If you were waiting to play the next Borderlands title on the upcoming Switch, don’t hold your breath, because it’s likely that won’t happen.
Apparently, Gearbox Software had been in talks with Nintendo regarding a Switch version of Borderlands 3 (let’s call it that for now), but for some reason the discussions did not materialize into anything successful, as CEO Randy Pitchford indicated via Twitter.
@dECU_nutt I do not see that as happening. We were talking to Nintendo, but that stopped for some reason. They have other priorities.

Originally announced in 2015, Borderlands 3 was referred to as “The Big One” by Pitchford. The game is still under development, and as clarified by the parent publisher, it is being developed specifically for next-gen consoles, meaning the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The original trilogy was released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel getting remasters ( via The Handsome Collection) for the current-gen counterparts.
