Racing is one of the most popular genres in gaming. Some of the most attractive games today are in fact racing games. Xbox exclusive Forza Horizon 3, is absolutely stunning and is probably one of the most beautiful games I’ve seen. Racing games did quite well on mobile and tablets as well. The lack of physical buttons on mobile/tablets did not hinder the genre from accumulating loyal fans. Here are some of the best racing games we played in 2016 –
Real Racing 3
In my opinion, the best car racing game on mobile phones and tablets. Real Racing 3 came out in 2013 but still manages to retain players with new content through it’s various updates. It lives up to its name as it is the most realistic car racing game right now. It features over 100 cars by various manufacturers, numerous game modes and digital versions of real race tracks. There are over 2000 events with varying rules and types of races, which make this game the absolute best!

Traffic Rider
Technically Traffic Rider isn’t a racing as much as it is a endless runner, but it has missions that give it enough of a racing game feel. The game features a first person view as you race your way past traffic up a freeway collecting points and completing missions. The graphics are good and controls easy to use. The game replicates bike quite accurately, in terms of look and sound. For anyone who likes bikes, this is a must have game.

Asphalt 8: Airborne
One of the best car racing game on mobile phones right now. Gameloft’s front runner is a full on racing game with loads of cars to unlock, tracks to race on and various multiplayer modes for you to race your friends on.This game is action packed and is a lot of fun to play, and did I mention addictive?

Need For Speed No Limits
EA’s Need For Speed No Limits has great graphics, a mediocre storyline and a ton of underground races. The game features simple, intuitive controls and addictive gameplay. The game is heavy AF so you might want to download it over WiFi and then have a crack at it.

Beach Buggy Blitz
Beach Buggy Blitz is another kart racer style game with over the top mechanics and a cartoon feel. With decent graphics and good controls the game features a variety of modes including an “Infinite Drive” mode where you drive for miles and miles in a procedural world that never plays the same way twice.

CSR Racing 2
CSR Racing 2 is one of the rare sequels that improve upon the original in almost every way. With the help of 3D rendering technique, the game features the most beautiful and authentic supercars till date. CSR Racing 2 is a solid drag racing game no doubt, but doesn’t offer anything new to the table. But if drag racing is your forte, then look no further.

Traffic Racer
One of the most frustrating and fun games that I’ve come across. Don’t get me wrong, this game is extremely fun but at the same time it can get a bit difficult at times. The main objective is to drive through highway traffic, avoid obstacles and cross the finish line in one piece. There 5 modes, 27 cars and just a handful of destinations to race in, but that doesn’t make the game any less fun.

GT Racing 2
There is a lot to like with GT Racing 2. It may not have received the love and support that the Asphalt series had but it still is a capable racing game. It might not be as tight or as dazzling as Real Racing 3, but it controls beautifully, with a lot of viable control schemes and has a lot of content.

Nitro Nation Racing
Nitro Nation Racing is probably one of the newest games on this list but is tearing up the racing charts and can be best described as the love child of CSR Racing and Drag Racing. The game features no energy limits, no delivery time for upgrades. There are loads of cars to race with, tons of upgrades, visual customization and car tuning.

Top Speed: Drag & Fast Racing
This is a drag racing game, if you haven’t already guessed. This title is a relatively newer game on the charts and isn’t as well known as CSR Racing but it still manages to hold it’s own. You have about 69 cars, dragsters and police vehicles to choose from. You get to race in five city districts with varying themes along with an aircraft carrier. Definitely a good effort by T-Bull Racing and is worth a download.
