Another day, another PC gaming news and this time market research firm Superdata reported the digital games market in 2015 was worth 61 billion in total for all the platform. The revenue this year has seen an 8% growth. Out of the 61 billion, $32 billion was in PC gaming department, $25 billion was in mobile gaming department and the remaining $4 billion was in console gaming department.
While consoles department has only generated $4 billion , the total sales reached a new high as the sales of digital console games saw growth up by 34% which was highest when compared to other platforms in regards to its prior year, also the largest category in terms of dollar sales was seen in mobile gaming department, which has earned $25 billion out of the total revenue. What’s surprising to see is that league of legends showed no signs of slowing down as December proved to be the game’s highest-earning month in its history as per Superdata’s report.
Superdata also believe that PC gamers have made quite a lot of progress transitioning to purchasing games digitally thanks to the three of the year’s top five digital PC games which were Grand Theft Auto V, Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3.
