Highwire Games have quietly been revealing some new details about their recently announced PlayStation VR title, Golem.
According to the developers on Twitter, the game is currently being developed on the Unreal Engine 4. You can see the Tweet for yourself at the bottom of this article. When I first saw the game I thought it might have been developed using the same engine as Until Dawn, which was an upgraded version of the Killzone: Shadow Fall engine. That Unreal Engine 4 is quite the development engine if you ask me.
As for the beautiful trailer that was released during the PlayStation Experience keynote? That was all in-engine footage according to the developers’ website. Here’s the full quote:
Highwire was fortunate to be able to announce our first title, Golem, at Sony’s PlayStation Experience keynote.Golem is a PlayStation VR exclusive and we showed an in-engine trailer…
On the PlayStation Blog, Highwire also revealed some interesting new details about the game itself. In the game you don’t play, “as a single golem, but as someone with the ability to control golems, seeing through their eyes and directing their movements.” The developers continued, “there is a sense of real dread and bodily danger that you get as you slowly creep through ancient ruins in search of artifacts and treasure.”
Golem was undoubtedly one of the more interesting PlayStation VR titles shown off at PSX this weekend and we’re very excited to learn more about it. Be sure to stay tuned to OnlySP on Facebook and Twitter for further updates. If you missed the trailer at the keynote, you’ll find it just below.
