After a gruelling month of qualifier rounds in which four teams were shortlisted out of 256 from all over the country, RageQuit Cup’s Season III finally wound up on Sunday at Delhi’s Urban Terrain. Teams Elunes, Neckbreak, Bad Xcuse, Surekh Gaming made it to the finals, and in the battle that followed, Team Neckbreak dominated and came out on top in the battle royale.
We chilled out at Barrels, from where the match was being shoutcasted by the talented RageQuit team and chatted around with the folks from RageQuit. They’re a chilled out bunch who love the game with a passion seldom seen in gaming except in eSports and do the shoutcasting as a hobby.
The atmosphere at Barrels was a cozy one, with people meeting, greeting and chatting away while the teams all battled away for glory and the glorious trophy. And after everyone settled in, there was nothing to do but watch the pros showing everyone why they’re pros.
The game was on everyone’s mind, so everyone stopped what they were doing whenever the action picked up and cheered for their team. And for good reason too: the matches were brutal, with long, drawn out sessions of strategy and positioning and sidestepping concluding in a mere minute or so of intense action that came out of nowhere. It was fun to watch, and was made even better by the lively and action packed commentary and the social atmosphere.
A big shoutout to the RageQuit guys from us! The event was fun as can be and marks a real high point in the budding Indian eSports scene.
After a long, drawn out battle that lasted for what felt like Aeons, only a handful of blood soaked warriors from one faction remained standing amidst a pile of corpses of their fallen enemies. “Last men standing.” whispered their leader as a dry chuckle escaped from his throat. “The Band of the Broken Neck has done their duty and repelled the invaders!” proclaimed the messengers, “The Ancient is not threatened anymo-” The messenger was cut of by the sound of maniacal laughter.
They all looked at the source, and trembled with fear as they saw the hulking form of a warrior covered in blood and gore laughing humorlessly. “Oh do excuse my lieutenant’s directness,” said the general of the Band of the Broken Neck, “He is merely commenting on the inevitability of more skirmishes. For you see, no matter how many times we win or lose, the war for us is never over.”
