The first DLC expansion for the critically acclaimed puzzle game by Croteam and Devolver Digital finally releases today complete with a launch trailer. Road to Gehenna is said to host “Some of the most advanced and challenging puzzles yet” in The Talos Principle. From the content description, The Talos Principle expansion contains four episodes to explore the simulation as a new (named) character of Uriel.
This brand new expansion was plotted by Talos Principle writers Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes, and shows players a different perspective on Elohim’s world as it follows messenger Uriel’s exploration of a hidden part of the simulation.
This new area has its own characters, society, history and philosophy, and Uriel will have to plumb its depths to complete their mission to free the souls of the damned.
The voiceover in the launch trailer reads as follows: “Uriel, awaken. The end of days is upon us. The process is complete as it should be, but, Uriel, I have made mistakes. What I ask of you, my beloved messenger, is a terrible sacrifice: undo my mistake. Please, save them.”
The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna is now available on Steam for $15.
As for the game, some questions crop up again pertaining to the story and said “Advanced” challenges. Will we see new usuable objects in the expansion? Will we obey or disobey our voice in the sky again? And why, oh God why, does first-person platforming still exist?
The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna is out now for PC, Mac, Linux, and will eventually head to PlayStation 4 consoles within 2015 in the Fall packing in the DLC as well.
