Quad HD on smartphones seems to be ridiculous to some people, they think it’s completely unnecessary, well now these people are about to be disappointed, as Samsung is thinking beyond Quad HD. Way beyond.
According to Korea’s Electronic Times, Samsung has challenged itself to build an display of unprecedented resolution i.e. 11k with 2,250ppi, while the company has not given exact specifications, but throwing the numbers on DPI calculator shows that achieving 2,250 pixels on mobile (5.5 inch) display would require a resolution of approximately 11,000 by 6,000 pixels.
The project was announced by Samsung’s Display Executive Chu Hye Yong during a workshop in Korea.They are teaming up with 13 Korean and foreign companies for this and is also taking the help of Korean government.
The prototype is expected to be showcased by 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
Big question arises that why samsung is developing such dense technology and the answer for that will be “3D”, basically when you have so many pixels, you can easily create 3D effects without the need of special 3D glasses or any other techniques.
