Who would have thought that Cyanogen would make the most popular Android ROM in the world, but now it seems that their influence is now expanding beyond a level of the third part developer world. Adnan Begovic just announced that their numbers have surpassed Blackberry and Windows phone combined.
50 million users is no small feet, and its an achievement considering Cyanogen (and Cyanogen mod) is not even a platform, it’s just a customized version of the Android.
According to IDC research firm Windows Phone’s piece of the pie is at 2.7% (around the world) as of Q1 2015. Then again, BlackBerry’s numbers keep on declining and are down to 0.3%.IDC statistics and Cyanogen numbers alone suggest that the ROM maker holds 3% of the world’s total market share, which is pretty great, which also shows that their success is not coming down soon.
Cyanogen might be able to put a bullet through google’s head.
