Torment: Tides of Numenera take’s heavy inspiration from Planetscape: Torment, and like its inspiration, the game features heavily choice-based combat.
What does it mean for the players? Great power, and great responsibility. You can approach your enemies in an all-out offensive mode, or rely on deception and stealth to make sure you never spill a drop of blood? You can spend your hard earned experience points on might, speed or intellect, or maybe upgrade some of your core skills. You gain tiers, which provide you an option to gain from various abilities, some offensive and some defensive. The choice, is yours to make.
Building up on the combat, you also gain access to Cyphers – the most powerful of all weapons and armour. Before you jump with joy, know this: using the Cyphers comes with its own set of problems. Check out the trailer below for more knowledge:
You also come across companions that you can recruit to help your cause. But the most fascinating part? When you die in the game, you’re sent to the Castoff Labyrinth, described as a mysterious maze deep inside your own mind. In this “hub”, you can explore various sub-plots, gain more power and come back to life, wiser than ever.
Torment: Tides of Numenera is set to release on 28th February for the Windows PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, MacOS and Linux systems.
