Top 10 Most Terrifying Games You Will Ever Play

Some people like scary things, I don’t know why but they do. It’s kinda like how people like spicy food, it’s really unpleasant, leaves a bad taste in your mouth and you end up sweating a lot. To get a good scare the first thing that would come to mind is to watch a horror film, or maybe go to one of those haunted houses you find in malls. But video games for a while now are proving to be another way for you to soil your pants. Here are a bunch of pant soiling games you should try in case you have constipation.

  • P.T.

The one game (or would have been game) that even non-gamers have heard about. “Playable teaser” was a first-person psychological survival horror video game that served as an interactive teaser for the game Silent Hills. The game was directed and designed by Hideo Kojima  in collaboration with Guillermo Del Toro, which received critical acclaim for its direction, visuals, story complexity and supernational tension..

2. Resident Evil 7

Resident Evil 7 biohazard is the next major entry in the renowned Resident Evil series and sets a new course for the franchise as it leverages its roots and opens the door to a truly terrifying horror experience. A dramatic new shift for the series to first person view in a photorealistic style powered by Capcom’s new RE Engine, Resident Evil 7 delivers an unprecedented level of immersion that brings the thrilling horror up close and personal.

3. Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Another brilliant and award winning game by Frictional Games. Players assume the role of Daniel, who explores a dark and foreboding castle, while avoiding monsters, obstacles and solving puzzles. The game is based on the idea that you cannot fight enemies making you focus on what you have to do next to survive. Each mistake only brings you that much closer to death.

4. Outlast

This story-driven survival campaign is set in a dilapidated psychiatric hospital overrun by homicidal patients. The story revolves around reporter Miles Upshur, who decides to investigate the facility deep in the mountains of Lake City, Colorado. Armed with only a notebook and camcorder, the player must navigate the facility’s ransacked environment with parkour, vaulting over low obstacles and sliding through narrow gaps.

5. Until Dawn

A group of teenagers decide to vacation for a night in a cabin on the fictional Blackwood Mountain, exactly one year after the disappearance of two girls, who were known to the group. I wonder what could go wrong?
Surely enough the group is under attack by a psychopath and must find a way to survive the night. Throughout the game, players alternate between all eight characters, making crucial decisions as the story progresses, affecting the game’s outcome.

6. Dying Light

The first person perspective, action survival game is set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day you can traverse through the urban environment overcome by a devastating epidemic, scouring for supplies and crafting weapons to defend yourself from the infected. At night all hell breaks loose as you use anything at your disposal till the crack of dawn.

7. Layers of Fear

Probably the only game on the list that has the most unique plot to it. Players control a psychologically disturbed painter trying to complete one of his best paintings, as he wanders through a Victorian mansion, discovering disturbing secrets about the painter along the way. The game is based heavily on the story and revolves mainly around puzzle-solving and exploration. Oh and the number jump scares increase as the game advances.

8. Alien Isolation

Unlike previous video game adaptations of the Alien franchise, Alien: Isolation relies strongly on stealth and survival. The game requires players to avoid and outsmart a single alien with the help of gadgets like motion tracker and a flamethrower. The game was praised for its retro-futuristic art direction, sound design and the alien’s artificial intelligence.

9. Silent Hills 2

The oldest and probably the scariest game on the list is Silent Hills 2. The game lays greater emphasis on finding items and solving riddles than just mere combat (honestly, how effective are your punches against some supernatural power). The game received critical praise for the atmosphere, graphics and story. The game also appeared on several critics’ top lists for its story and use of metaphors, psychological horror and taboo topics.

10 F.E.A.R

It took a long time to find a video for this game. In fact I had Manas go through a bunch of videos online to get this. The game came out way back in 2005, back when YouTube wasn’t as big as it is today. The game revolves around a supernatural phenomenon which FEAR (a fictional special forces team) is called to contain. You must uncover the secrets of a paranormal menace in the form of a little girl. The game is over a decade old and it still made the list, that’s really saying something!

If you think any other game should have made the cut but wasn’t on the list, check out games that made Manas shit his pants, and if you still don’t it there then mention it in the comments below.
