I don’t know what the exact date is but I’m about 2 centuries in the future… Is that even possible? I still remember holding Nora and Shaun. It happened so fast.
It all started with a strange man from Vault-Tec showing up at my doorstep asking for my credentials. He said my family was approved admittance to the Vault 111. And then the news. The reporter spoke of flashes, blinding flashes. Then he said it, confirmed reports of a nuclear detonations in New York and Pennsylvania.
We ran for to the vault, everyone frantically ran towards the Vault. We ran as fast as we could, we didn’t look back.
We finally reached the Vault, The Vault-Tec Rep wasn’t even allowed entrance, none of my neighbours were! What was going on? Luckily we were let through. My neightbours… I couldn’t think of that, my family came first so we went past the guards towards the platform. I looked at Nora and told her,”We’re going to be okay, I love you, both of you.” I don’t know if I believed it myself.
And then it happened. With a blinding flash, Boston was gone. I had never been so scared in my entire life. Thank God the platform started descending, a moment more and we would have been gone. The shock wave rattled my teeth but God, we survived! But the world had changed forever.
Questions started rushing my mind, was everyone dead? Codsworth, would he survive? My home… gone. No, I couldn’t think of that right now, I still need to get Nora and Shaun to safety. God only know what must be going in Nora’s head, she must be so scared but at least we have each other, Shaun is safe in her arms. I have my family.
They Vault-Tec staff gave us this blue jump suit to wear and we followed this doctor. There was something odd about the staff, they seemed too polite. They seemed too chirpy, what was going on? It was like they didn’t care what just happened. A nuclear bomb just went off and destroyed Boston dammit!! No, I can’t think about that now. We can mourn later but not right now.
As we followed the doctor, Nora looked at me and said,”See? this is our new home.”
The doctor replied,”Oh, you’re going to love it here. This is one of our most advanced facilities.”
But our home, it’s gone. Everyone we knew, was gone.
The doctor took us to a place where these pods were there. He told us that this was a decontamination pod. I was so scared but I had to be strong for Nora and Shaun, I told them,”It’s okay, daddy’s right here see? I’m not going far, I’ll just be over there.”
We sat inside the pods opposite each other. I had to keep them in view. The pod door closed and it suddenly started going cold and colder. NORA!!
Everything went white.
