The Crew PC specs revealed

Ubisoft has announced the minimum, recommended and optimal PC specifications for its open-world driving game The Crew, which is due out on 2nd December.

The spec sheet begins by noting that The Crew will only run on 64-bit operating systems, before outlining what you kind of hardware you need to get involved.

Minimum specs:

  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8/8.1 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.5 GHz or AMD Athlon II X4 620 @ 2.6 GHz
  • Memory: 4GB
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX260 or AMD Radeon HD4870 (512MB VRAM with Shader Model 4.0 or higher)
  • DirectX: DirectX 10 June Redistributable
  • Sound: DirectX compatible sound card with latest drivers
  • Peripherals: Keyboard required, Xbox 360 or other compatible controller optional

Recommended configuration:

  • OS: Windows 8/8.1 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-750 @ 2.66 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0 GHz
  • Memory: 8GB
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX580 or AMD Radeon 6870 (1024MB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0 or higher)
  • DirectX/sound/peripherals: Same as above

Optimal configuration:

  • OS: Windows 8/8.1 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8150 @ 3.6 GHz
  • Memory: 8GB
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX670 or AMD Radeon 7870 (2048MB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0 or higher)
  • DirectX/sound/peripherals: Same as above

Ubisoft also provided a list of supported graphics cards:

  • Nvidia GeForce GTX260 or better, GTX400, GTX500, GTX600, GTX700, GTX900 series
  • Drivers: GeForce 340.52 for all DX10 Nvidia cards (GTX200) and 344.48 for all DX11 NVIDIA cards (GTX400 – GTX900)
  • AMD Radeon HD4870 or better, HD5000, HD6000, HD7000, R7 and R9 series
  • Drivers: Catalyst 13.1 for HD4000 series and Catalyst 14.9 for all other Radeon cards

Ubisoft also released a trailer showcasing how The Crew takes advantage of Nvidia’s HBAO+ full-resolution ambient occlusion and TXAA to deliver moodier shadows and eliminate pixel crawl and jagged edges.

There was no word on the game’s frame-rate, though, after reports from the closed beta that The Crew might be locked at 30fps. At the time Ubisoft said it was aiming for 60fps for the launch of the game.
