Bleed 2 – Review

A fast-paced platformer arcade action game where you can air dodge and deflect bullets with a katana while shooting enemies with your twin pistols, Deadpool style. Bleed 2 is the sequel to the fantastic indie game Bleed developed by BootDisk Revolution where you played as Wryn, a girl who was on the quest to become the best video-game hero by defeating all the heroes on Earth. Bleed 2 picks off with a massive alien armada invading Earth since all the heroes are no more due to the events of the previous game and it is our job to stop them and defend Earth. The game is a platforming shooter very reminiscent of games like Contra and Metal Slug. You have twin pistols that have unlimited ammo and a katana that can reflect back and deflect bullets which is amazing since you’ll be using it ...

Okami HD – Review

Okami HD is a remaster of Okami, a game that has already become a classic must play game because of it’s uniqueness in terms of art-style and gameplay. Okami combines several Japanese mythology and folklore and has you play as a Sun Goddess who is sent back to the world in form of a White Wolf because a warrior that doesn’t believe in legends decided to unleash an ancient demon that was sealed by you ages ago who goes and corrupts the land and it is your job to restore things back to normalcy. It features a very unique Japanese wood print and painting art-style which ties in heavily with one of the most prominent gameplay mechanics of the game where you use a Celestial Ink Brush to draw things into existence or to perform various gameplay maneuvers. This is inter-mingling of ar...

Feral Fury – Review

Panda marines that are out to shoot, kill and blowup everything on a planet they are invading to turn into a bamboo plantation. If that doesn’t interest you then I honestly don’t know what will. Feral Fury is a fast paced 2D roguelite top-down twin-stick shooter action game developed and published by Skandivania Games, a company from Norway that has a two person team both of whom worked on this game. The game is your standard rouguelite game that features three modes to choose from, namely Easy, Normal and,Hard. Easy Mode is very easy and is not much of a challenge, if you do play on this difficult prepare to get mocked by the game with butterflies around your character and birthday parties at the end of each chapter. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 – Review

With the astounding success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the emergence of more obscure and lesser known characters, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is a game that really capitalizes on this. With the tried and tested LEGO video game formula, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 adds a plethora of new characters, locations and fantastic interaction between characters to continue the story of it’s own LEGO universe where humour and absurdity go hand in hand. A sequel to the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game that released in 2013, this new game really builds on that while providing an extremely fun experience that doesn’t strive too far from the LEGO games formula while adding its own touch to it. The game takes place after the events of the previous game where the entire cast of heroes from...

Planetbase – Review

Planetbase as the name suggests is a game about bases on a planet. You lead a team of colonists and robots who are on a mission to colonize a remote planet. It is a strategy game with a survival aspect added to it. The game features four planets, each with increasing difficulty. The second, third and fourth planets can only be unlocked after reaching a certain number of “milestones” which are essentially achievements or goals that you must achieve on a planet. Planetbase has a learning curve that will take you a few attempts to get used to because of how quick and easy it is to die, especially on the later planets but once you do get past the initial stages of setting up a base to produce power, water and oxygen it gets easier. However once you start expanding your base further...

Wulverblade – Review

Brutal, bloody and barbaric, Wulverblade is a 2D side-scrolling beat ’em up set in 120 AD during a time when the Roman Empire was trying to conquer Britain from the South. With a very colourful yet dark artstyle, it blends the cartoon-y artstyle with a very authentic representation of the war-torn lands during that time period. Character sprites are made in 1080p to have clarity and sharpness and is good but at times can feel a bit too cartoon-y for a game that is so gritty. The whole art style is beautiful and portrays the time period and setting really well, however some might feel it looks like a well done flash game but dont let that fool you since it is quite brutal with execution moves and lot of blood and dismemberment that doesn’t look gruesome with the artstyle but it ...

Why Does No One Talk About The Xbox One?

It’s no secret that the Xbox brand has not done all that hotly this generation. Even now, with the launch of a hot new console in the Xbox One X, it feels like there is no zeitgeist surrounding it whatsoever- it’s come, but it’s made no impact, no mark. There is no conversation presently about the Xbox or its games- conversation is still dominated by PlayStation and Nintendo. And this, to me, embodies the central issue Xbox has had all throughout the generation- it lacks mindshare, cachet, and buzz in the mainstream and enthusiast consciousness entirely. This is in stark contrast to the original Xbox, which managed to find a place for itself in public consciousness due to Halo and the pioneering Xbox Live, and other high quality exclusives such as Conker, Shenmue, Knights...
