Ubisoft announced the other day that the PC closed beta version of its open world racing game The Crew was launched yesterday. And in addition to pulling up their release date for the game, the company also revealed what players will be able to test drive during the beta. The game features a giant, open-world map that allows you to drive from coast to coast of the United States. This version will let you roam free on the entire map, but only has missions and skill challenges for the Midwest, and skill challenges for the East Coast. Various different terrains will require different car specs, and the closed beta will allow you to customize The Street Spec, which you’ll get in Detroit, and The Dirt Spec, which you’ll get in New York. Ubisoft said that it’s open-world racing game The Crew will get free content updates after its launched. “One of the things that I really want to do is to keep providing people with content after launch,” The Crew Creative Director Julian Gerighty said in a video interview posted to Ubisoft’s YouTube channel. “Free Content just to keep people engaged in the game. I really see this as your one stop shop for action driving.” Ubisoft has previously referred to The Crew as the “World of Warcraft of driving games,” and massively multiplayer online games of this type get a lot of free content in addition to paid post-launch content. Ubisoft had announced that two of their top line games- Watch Dogs and The Crew have been delayed. Both these games were scheduled to release in the current fiscal year (which ends on March 31, 2014) but not will be released in the following fiscal year instead. Ubisoft have said that it expects Watch Dogs to come out sometime in the first quarter of its fiscal year (between April 1 and June 30, 2014) and The Crew to be released in the second quarter (between July 1 and September 30, 2014).
