Take-Two (Rockstar/2K) Believes Gaming Will Be 100% Digital In 5-20 Years, Loot Boxes Aren’t Gambling

“Don’t expect NBA 2K38 to come on a disc.” said Take-Two Interactive’s President Karl Slatoff at the Credit Suisse 21st Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference. There is no doubt on the fact that the trend to purchase video games digitally has grown rapidly. The online distributors do such as Steam do offer heavy discounts and other benefits, making them a preferable choice over physical copies. According to Statista, in 2009, 20% of game sales were digital and 80% were physical. I 2016, a whopping 74% of game sales were digital and 26% were physical. These numbers are only growing and if you take Slatoff’s word for it, games will be sold 100% digitally in the coming decades. The shift to a digital market has persuaded the publishers to pursue business mod...

Red Dead Redemption 2 Not on the Same Level as GTA 5

As Red Dead Redemption 2 is on the horizon, we are really excited for the game and have really high expectations from the game as the previous iteration of the game was one to best games for the last generation and we also have utter faith in Rockstar Games. Although in a recent interview with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, he stated that- “What the team is doing is trying to make the best possible game they can, and if they succeed… Look, the reason, in my opinion, why GTA V has sold 80m units, and GTA Online had another record year 3-and-a-half years since its release, is because it stands alone in the generation.” [interaction id=”5976f6c53f3b30a27917503a”] We might be having expectations from the game but Take Two believes that Red Dead is on a different level that GTA...

After Massive Fan Outcry, GTA V Modding Returns, But With Some Caveats

After Take-Two decided to send a C&D letter to the developer of OpenIV and basically shutting down the single player modding scene, people were upset and angry about it were very vocal about it. This seems to have worked from the looks of it because OpenIV just got an update. Although it’s a small update, this confirms that OpenIV is back! That’s not all though because the credits section of OpenIV contains a “Special Thanks” to Rockstar Games along with the fact that Rockstar game’s retweeted a tweet from Motherboard which talks about them saving “an uber popular modding tool” for GTA V, which can mean that Rockstar has spoken to Take-Two about this. While there’s yet to be an official confirmation from Rockstar, this is what they had to...
