Steam Giving Out Free Games For The Weekend

It’s halfway into the month and it’s safe to assume that we have all pretty much spent all our money and now we’re trying to get free meals by eating over at a friend’s place. In case you seem to find yourself in one of these situations then this is just the article for you. Steam is making ten games free for this weekend as a part of its Free Weekend promotions. The games include Company of Heroes 2, XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Grid 2. You have over 2 days to play them as they unlock 10am Pacific time on Thursday, October 16. But after that you’ll have to pay for them, with some sort of discounts hopefully.   Here’s the list: – Awesomenauts – Blade Symphony – Company of Heroes 2 – Don’t Starve – Grid 2 – Injustice – Killing Floor R...

Dishonored free on Steam for the weekend

Another good weekend for gamers, especially for those that don’t want to spend anything for it. Just a while back only Borderlands 2 was free on Valve’s Steam platform. And if you’re more like an assassin sort of guy then you are in luck my friend as Dishonored is free to play all weekend long. Well at least for the most part of it– from now until 1pm Pacific, you can download Dishonored on Steam and play the crap out of the game because it truly is an amazing game. The level of detail in this game is fantastic compiled with the multiple ways you can solve challenges—unlike most stealth based games, in this you can turn into a complete mad man and just go bat shit crazy killing people. You can probably finish the game over the weekend but its more fun if you take yo...

Grand Theft Auto V on Steam promises great enhancements

Grand Theft Auto V has appeared on Steam, boasting of a number of enhancements to the game as well as an all-new video editor. Grand Theft Auto V appeared on Steam today, a few days after Rockstar finally confirmed that it will in fact be released for the PC. According to the description, the game “will take full advantage of the power of PC to deliver across-the-board enhancements including increased resolution and graphical detail, denser traffic, greater draw distances, upgraded AI, new wildlife, and advanced weather and damage effects for the ultimate open world experience.” It will also come with a video editor “designed for advanced movie-making,” just like the PC version of its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV. That editor allowed users to capture in-game foo...

Just Cause 2 Multiplayer Mod now out on Steam

With its beta complete, the long awaited Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod,  JC2-MP, is now out for download through Steam. Modders have sure taken their own sweet time on this, considering the game was released in March 2010. However, the result is a free download for anyone who owns Just Cause 2 on PC — console versions aren’t supported. The base game is currently on sale on Steam until December 19 for $2.99, a pretty insane deal for a game which showed a lot of promise as a single-player-only title.   As seen in the trailer above, the mod allows for hundreds of players to ‘hang out’ in Panau together while still being able to enjoy the same kind of action a single player is exposed to. DLC support is handled on a per-server basis, and support for LAN servers is i...

Steam brings Gage(DLC) for Payday 2

Yesterday, i.e the 5th of December the Gage Weapon Pack came out for Payday 2, a piece of premium DLC for the PC version on Steam. There was an increase in the game’s inventory of weapons, mods and masks. The Gage Weapon Pack brings in a brand new variety of guns, mods, masks and also increases player inventory size by quite a considerable amount. In fact, those who picked up the DLC yesterday will have had more open weapon slots than there are guns available in the game. “Being introduced alongside Gage’s armaments in Payday 2 is a selective fire mode, allowing would-be heisters to switch between semi-automatic and full-on auto firing at the press of a button.”  The selective firing option too was available to gamers yesterday– not just the ones who pick up the DLC...

Ashes Cricket 2013 pulled from Steam

The sorry saga of 505 Games’ Ashes Cricket 2013 continues beginning with one of the dumbest trailers in gaming history, it was supposed to appear in June this year. You know, in time for the Ashes. It didn’t make it, except they got lucky. The usual two year gap between the Australia Vs England bat-to-ball grudge series, they’ve started another one already, just a few months later. A fortuitous one-off anomaly allowing the game to slip five months and not suddenly be enormously out of date. So now, in time for the latest Ashes, it’s been released on PC alone. Except, it’s all going a bit wrong. Just a few days later it’s been mysteriously pulled from Steam, the Facebook page has vanished, and there are lots of rather cross customers. And an increasing number of excellent videos. As well as...

Valve develops its own Game Controller too

Yesterday morning, Valve revealed the first steps of its plan to marry the new SteamOS to custom hardware. According to the Steam Machines Beta Test Agreement, Valve has developed a game controller. Speculation has been abundant about the third of Valve’s announcements, which is scheduled for reveal on Friday at 1 PM Eastern. “Valve Corporation (“Valve”, “We”, “Us” or “Our”) has developed and produced prototypes of entertainment system hardware and software, including a set-top box running custom software and a game controller (collectively: “Beta Products”),” the agreement states. Whether Valve intends to release this controller to market or has simply created it for the purposes of testing is unclear. Our Take ...
