Google Map Maker Is Back To US and 44 Other Countries

Back in April, a “clever” Google Map Maker user submitted an image of an Android logo urinating on an Apple logo to Google Maps, which forced Google to apologize for the inappropriate incident soon after. To ensure this kind of thing never happened again, Google shut down the Map Maker program in May so it could revamp the way users could submit their entries. As promised, Google then relaunched the service a few weeks ago, but only in a few select markets. Now the service is seeing a much wider expansion, as the United States, along with 44 other countries, are now able to make edits and submissions in Map Maker. Just like with the first wave of countries, Map Maker is a bit more closed off now. Every edit will need to be approved by a “regional lead”. As Google puts it, “[Regional Leads]...

Samsung Teasing with New Smartwatch Gear S2

Samsung Gear S2 is on its way thanks to the official pictures and previous leaks about the device.Today, Samsung mobile executive Dennis Miloseski posted a nice close-up of the smartwatch to Instagram, to fuel our appetite for a new gadget. The picture treats us to a nice close up of what appears to be a metal frame around the display, which certainly looks rather nice.We can also spot a couple of buttons on the side of the Gear S2, perhaps to assist with navigating through the OS, which I’m assuming will be Tizen rather than Android Wear. Miloseski doesn’t say much else along with the picture, other than that he’s “Giving the new Samsung Gear S2 a test drive”. Samsung has also posted the teaser trailer earlier this month. The clip gives us a little look at what we can probably expect from ...

According to an internal notice that’s being passed around McDonald’s in the US, the launch of Android Pay could be just days away. The internal notice suggests that the service will launch on 26th August, following the launch of Samsung Pay on 21st August. While the latter is indeed incorrect (as Samsung Pay won’t launch until next month). McDonald’s is set to be a major partner for Android Pay, mainly thanks to over 14,000 restaurants in the US which will all accept Android Pay from launch. As a major partner, McDonald’s is likely to have been informed by Google in advance of Android Pay’s release and while the notice abov...
