During the Nintendo Direct event focused around Fire Emblem, Nintendo announced a new surprise game for the 3DS. Called Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, the game seems to be a remake of or takes heavy inspiration from Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second game in the series. Gaiden was launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1992, but never saw a release outside Japan. The game also had some unique significant elements, which Nintendo says will be represented in the new title. Nintendo claims that Shadows of Valentia will include a world map you can navigate and 3D areas which you can wander around and explore.
