Microsoft Talks About The Future Of The Fable Series

The closure of Lionhead Studios, the creators behind the famous (and my personal favourite) Fable series, brought dismay to the hearts of gamers alike. Microsoft shut down the studio earlier in 2016 when it was on the verge of releasing Fable Legends, an action RPG where you could play as the hero or the villain. It does not seem likely that there would be another mainline Fable title in the future. Although a digital card game known as Fable Fortune was released, it wasn’t made by Lionhead Studios. If Microsoft were to bring it back, that would please Xbox boss Shannon Loftis, who heads up Xbox’s first-party publishing team. “Fable is very near and dear to my heart,” Loftis said. “Actually one of the primary reasons [I moved to England] was to work with the t...

Microsoft Cancels Fable Legends, Lionhead Studios Shut Down

In what might be another proof of Xbox One’s underwhelming sales, Fable Legends has been cancelled, Microsoft has announced. The company said the decision was done after “much consideration.” Lionhead Studios, Peter Molyneux’s former home, developers of the Fable series, will also be shut down. Lionhead said at the time it marks the start of a new games-as-a-service model. The game was due for release in 2015, but kept getting pushed. Its beta also suffered numerous delays. Earlier this year, Microsoft named it as one of its Windows and Xbox One titles due in 2016. Legends featured asymmetrical, 4v1 multiplayer an...

E3 Diary: Clash of the Titans Pt. 2 (Microsoft)

Microsoft dominated the floor with their show today, announcing not only games for Xbox One, but also for the Hololens and Windows 10. A healthy mix of not only new games, but also new features for the Xbox One was announced at the show. The most surprising and welcome of these announcements was Backwards Compatibility with Xbox 360 games. It works not only with titles on the XBL Marketplace, but also with retail discs. You can check compatible games here (PDF Document). These games are playable right now for Xbox Preview members and will be rolled out during Holiday 2015. Along with that a new User Experience and Xbox Game Preview was announced. Xbox Game Preview is an early access model, but it has free demos for all it’s games. Besides that, MS debuted a new Xbox Elite controller,...
