EA May Just Have Killed All The Hype For Anthem, At Least For Me

Let’s face it, EA’s actions this year have been nothing but one disappointment after another for gamers everyhwere. From shutting down great studios to implementing highly questionable mechanics in their games, they have done everything to ensure they become one of the most hated companies in the gaming industry. In fact, their response to the Star Wars Battlefront II loot box debacle is the most downvoted post on Reddit! What makes it worse it that once upon a time, in a galaxy not so far away, some of the best titles to come out were published under the banner of EA. And they seem have thrown all of it away, just for one thing – profits. It seems like EA plans to stop at nothing when it comes to sucking the wallets of their customers. So much so, that they’ve actu...

Bioware’s Lead Animator For Anthem Leaves The Studio

Steven Gilmour, the lead animator for Bioware’s upcoming major project, Anthem, has left the studio, according to his Linkedin profile. Gilmour worked with Bioware for seventeen years, being involved in several big titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect series, and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Considering Anthem is still over a year from its release, it’s possible that the development of the game may not be hindered to a huge extent. However, it is certain that both the title and the studio have lost one of their vital members. No release date has been announced yet for Anthem, though a 2018 launch for the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is expected. Anthem And Mass Effect Designer Corey Gaspur Passed Away

Corey Gaspur, the lead designer on Bioware’s upcoming title, Anthem, and whose previous works include Mass Effect 2, 3, and Dragon Age: Origins is no more. The news was announced earlier today by the studio in a blog post. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Corey Gaspur. He was a member of our team for over nine years, and worked as a designer on many of our titles, including Sonic Chronicles, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2 and 3, and most recently Anthem. Corey was a talented designer and an even better person. We offer our condolences to Corey’s family and everyone that knew him. We will miss you.” Gaspur first started working for Bioware Edmonton in 2007, his first accredited project being Sonic Chronicles: The Dark B...

EA Got Back The Only Guy Who Can Redeem Mass Effect, Dragon Age And Has Me Excited For Anthem

In 2014 Casey Hudson had left Bioware to pursue some personal projects saying that he wanted – “some time off, needed a bit of change, and wanted to get involved in the new wave of emerging, disruptive technologies.”. After having revolutionized the RPG genre with franchises like KOTOR, Mass Effect and Dragon Age, his departure was a loss of Bioware and it showed in Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Fans of Bioware were unsure of what the studio’s future looked like, and even with all the positive buzz around Anthem, I was skeptical. [interaction id=”5971bc815ef522b21624db04″] However, just yesterday news came of Casey Hudson returning as General Manager at Bioware, and Aaryn Flynn stepping down. He announced his return saying: “The last few years ...

No Way Anthem Looks This Great At Launch, Downgrade Imminent

I know I wasn’t the only one blown away by how amazing Anthem’s trailer looked the Microsoft Press Conference during E3 2017. Running on the Xbox One X, the game looked visually stunning and the gameplay seemed really tight and snappy. The third person shooting, abilities, and the traversal gave off the sense that this might be the game that can give Destiny some tough competition. And with Bioware’s storytelling prowess, Anthem might actually deliver on Destiny’s original promise. [interaction id=”59632fb1f7ddd65e0bce0ed6″] However, the game looks poised for an imminent downgrade. Even with Bioware’s experience with the Frostbite engine, the trailer looked heavily directed and tailored to show the game at its best. While I do want to be hopeful th...

I Might Be Setting Myself Up for Disappointment, But Anthem Seems Really Promising

Anthem is the upcoming action RPG/Third Person Shooter game from Bioware, and it is aimed at the Destiny and Division crowd. So when a new game such as this is announced, it’s instantly surrounded by hype, and with such hype disappointment tends to follow. Add to the fact that the guys who made the original Mass Effect and good old RPGs of old are at the helms of the project, even a cynic such as me can’t help but be caught up in the hype. [interaction id=”595e19adf2d4938713c394f8″] Anthem is the game which is going to compete with games like Destiny and Division. Both of the games had immense hype surrounding them when they were announced, but the hype died down after release, and not because they were bad games, it was because expectations were so high, that it wa...

Xbox Pokes Fun At Sony For Using Doctored Footage of Anthem

It seems like the console wars are on again and any misstep would cost a lot. Recently both Xbox and PlayStation had hosted a video of Anthem which is Bioware’s new IP on their YouTube channel. But Sony immediately removed the video from their channel, later it was found that they had used doctored footage from Xbox One X and changed the Xbox buttons prompts to PlayStation button prompts. Due to this mishap the marketing manager of Xbox, Aaron Greenberg, has tweeted-   Oops! ? https://t.co/RM89njbD8M — ✖️Aaron Greenberg✖️ (@aarongreenberg) July 3, 2017 The Marketing Manager is having fun with this story but on the other side there was no comment from Sony’s side, but it is clear that they might not be having fun with the story. This footage was shown by Xbox at E3 to show ...
