PC gaming is far from dead. The latest figures from Steam, the digital storefront and gaming platform run by Valve, the prolific developer behind titles such as Half-Life 2, Portal and Left for Dead, soared past 8 million concurrent users over the weekend.
To emphasize, that means over 8 million people – the same as Israel’s population – were logged in and using the service at the same time. The previous high recorded on Steam was 7.5 million concurrent users back in December.
This weekend we noticed they peaked to 8,020,744 concurrent users, being the final “encore” day of the summer sale. We’re interested to hear peoples view on what they think about Steam’s growth to date, and what events / games could push this further.
