Samsung Launches Gear VR & Wearables In India

Samsung has officially launched the Oculus powered Gear VR along with Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smart watches.

The Gear VR is priced at Rs. 8,200 and is available online on Flipkart, and offline at Reliance Digital and Croma. As of now, it’s only available in Frost While color.

The Gear S2 is priced at Rs. 24,300 and comes in Dark Grey color with Silver case and sporty band. The Gear S2 Classic is priced slightly higher at Rs. 25,800 and comes in Black casing with leather band. These smartwatches will be sold online exclusively from Flipkart along with other Samsung Retail channels.

Samsung Gear VR Features

The headsets have dimensions of 201.9 x 116.4 x 92.6 mm and weighs 310 Grams. It has improved touch pad for optimum experience when gaming, accessing films and 360-degree video. It has foam cushioning for comfortable wearing.

The Gear VR has 96-degree Field of View (FOV) and sports 54 ~ 70 mm IPD Coverage (fixed lenses). It is compatible with MicroUSB Connection on Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Edge +. It also has Accelerator, Gyro-meter and Proximity Sensor for mount / un-mount detection.

Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic Specifications

This smartwatch has 1.2-Inch Circular Super AMOLED Display that gives 360 x 360 pixels resolution at 302ppi pixel density. It has 1GHz Dual Core Exynos 3250 processor inside with 512MB RAM and 4GB of on-board storage memory.

The Gear 2 and Gear S2 Classic both run on Tizen based wearable platform and are IP67 certified for water and dust resistant. They have 250 mAh Li-Ion battery that supports wireless charging. These smartwatches also support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth V4.1 and NFC.

Sensors like Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Hear Rate, Ambient Light and Barometer are also included. For usability, Samsung has also added home and back button to access applications and notifications.
