Red Dead Redemption 2 Not on the Same Level as GTA 5

Red Dead Redemption 2 Not on the Same Level as GTA 5

As Red Dead Redemption 2 is on the horizon, we are really excited for the game and have really high expectations from the game as the previous iteration of the game was one to best games for the last generation and we also have utter faith in Rockstar Games. Although in a recent interview with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, he stated that-

“What the team is doing is trying to make the best possible game they can, and if they succeed… Look, the reason, in my opinion, why GTA V has sold 80m units, and GTA Online had another record year 3-and-a-half years since its release, is because it stands alone in the generation.”

We might be having expectations from the game but Take Two believes that Red Dead is on a different level that GTA franchise as it was clear from the sales of Red Dead Redemption (2010) and Grand Theft Auto 4 (2008). The sales of GTA 4 were more than Red Dead but this I have faith that Red Dead Redemption might get close to GTA 5 sales if not break it. He also stated-

“In every prior generation, there have been other titles that have clustered around GTA from a quality point-of-view. That’s clearly not the case now. If you are over 17 and you have a new generation console, you have GTA. Otherwise we wouldn’t have shipped 80m units. Can any other title achieve that? It seems unlikely. Do we have incredibly high hopes for Red Dead? We do. But we are not putting it in the context of GTA,”

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be acting as a prequel to the critically acclaimed game Red Dead Redemption (2010). And Red Dead Redemption was one of the best games of the last generation we do hope that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be one of the best games of this generation. As Rockstar Games have a reputation of making high quality, immersive open worlds and high replay-ability.
