The J3160NH Motherboard is a part of BIOSTAR’s new lineup of motherboards feturing the 14nm Intel Braswell Refresh SoC processors.  The new 14nm processors offer a more efficient yet powerful experience than its older 22nm counterpart Baytrail SoC, consuming less power and producing less heat.

The 14nm fabrication process processor a smaller die that needs less power. The new, improved 8th-gen Intel HD Graphics are used to power the display, enhancing your overall experience by a great margin. The motherboard also features numerous options to improve the connectivity across devices, including 2 SATA III ports for storage, 1 RJ 45 port for LAN, 3 total USB 3.0 Ports and 3.5 mm audio ports.

The J3160NH comes in a 17 cm x 17 cm mini ITX form factor, meaning you can use it easily wherever you want without going through any hassles regarding space and placement. For display options, the motherboard provides 1 VGA port and 1 HDMI port, thus making sure that you don’t face any problems while plugging in your preferred display device.

The Intel Celeron J3160 quad-core CPU that powers the motherboard comes with a base frequency of 1.6 GHz and burst frequency of 2.24 GHz, making it well equipped to handle all your daily work needs. The motherboard also has two SO-DIMM slots for DDR 3 memory sticks, supporting upto 16 GM DDR3 RAM.

The new Intel HD Graphics support Directx 11.1, and are a great improvement over it predecessors when it comes to multimedia tasks, like watching HD videos and visual processing. You can comfortably play older classic titles like Call of Duty and Max Payne on medium/low settings at playable framerates. As the focus for the J3160NH is not hardcore gaming, this is pretty impressive.

At a price point of about INR 6,000/- (on Amazon), the BIOSTAR J3160NH forms a solid work device that, thanks to its small form factor, can be adjusted into compact spaces without much restrictions. For those looking for a low-cost, efficient setup for mostly work and occasional light games, it doesn’t get any better than this.
