PlayStation 4 Pro & PlayStation VR Indian Prices & Release Dates Revealed

Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe today announced that PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro) and PlayStation VR (PS VR) will be available for sale in India during February and March respectively.

PS4 Pro, a high-end system that supports cutting-edge imaging technology to make games look richer and more detailed than ever before also supports dynamic 4K gaming and 4K entertainment. It will be available at an MRP of INR 38,990. Blockbuster PS4 games, including Call Of Duty®: Infinite Warfare (Activision), Ratchet & Clank, The Last of Us Remastered, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (SIE Worldwide Studios), have been updated to take advantage of PS4 Pro’s increased power, taking the graphics and visual experience to all new heights.

PS VR, a virtual reality system for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) system takes gaming to the next level of immersion and transports players into the virtual worlds of their games.  The PS VR bundle that includes the PlayStation 4 (PS4) camera will be available at an MRP of INR 41,990. The bundle is available for pre-ordering at select stores. Another bundle without the camera will be introduced later during the year at an MRP of INR 37,990. PS VR, which is compatible with the more than 50 million PS4 systems already inside consumers’ homes,  arrives with a lineup of games, including exclusive titles such as Batman™: Arkham VR (RockSteady and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment), DRIVECLUB VR, PlayStation®VR WORLDS and Until Dawn™: Rush of Blood (SIE WWS). In total, PS VR will have a library of approximately 50 games by the end of the year.

“The launch of PS4 Pro is an immensely exciting moment for PlayStation. Never before have we introduced a new console in the middle of a platform’s lifecycle. By providing developers with a new way to showcase their creativity, PS4 Pro enables us to prove our commitment to innovation, as well as deliver captivating gameplay experiences for the players,” said Jim Ryan, President of SIEE and President of Global Sales & Marketing, SIE. He also added “PSVR puts the player right in the centre of the action, immersing them in extraordinary new worlds. PS VR is a milestone in home entertainment and it very much needs to be experienced to be believed.”

PS4 Pro leverages the latest imaging technology by supporting dynamic 4K quality* resolution and High Dynamic Range (HDR). The powerful CPU and GPU of PS4 Pro allows developers to create higher-quality games that output dynamic 4K quality* graphics with unprecedented visual precision, or smoother and more stable frame rates. Like all PS4 consoles, the system is also compatible with HDR imaging technology that produces more realistic, strikingly vivid visuals that are truer to the way the human eye naturally sees.

PS4 Pro will sit alongside the standard PS4, which will also be available in a slimmer and lighter model starting at an MRP of INR 27,990 and provide consumers with more choice. Users can play every PS4 game on both PS4 Pro and the standard PS4. PlayStation®VR is compatible with both systems.  PS4 Pro and the standard PS4 will also share the same user interface and have access to the same vibrant online community. Users are able to select their console of choice, based on their needs and preferences.

In addition, Netflix on PS4 Pro will receive an update at the system’s launch, enabling users to stream 4K content such as “Narcos Season 2” and “Luke Cage.” Around 600 hours of 4K content are expected to be released on Netflix by the end of the year. YouTube, already one of the largest sources of 4K content, will also support 4K content on PS4 Pro. For gamers who own an HDTV that does not support either 4K or HDR, PS4 Pro provides a number of benefits, such as higher or more stable framerates, and enhanced graphics and environments.

PS VR delivers a sense of presence, where players feel as though they are physically inside the virtual world of a game.  PS VR leverages state-of-the-art technologies, such as 360 degree head tracking, wide field of view, high refresh rates, and SIE’s own binaural 3D audio technology, to heighten the emotions gamers experience as they play and make them believe they’ve been transported to another world.  By using peripherals such as PlayStation®Move Motion Controller, DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller and the upcoming PS VR Aim Controller, players can explore virtual environments and intuitively interact with characters as if they are actually present in the world of a game.
