PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Crosses 8 Million Sales

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Crosses 8 Million Sales

It looks like there’s no end to this hype train. PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds is a relatively new game, launched only about 5 months ago. Within that short time period, the game has sold over 8 million copies, Game Director Brendan Greene confirmed at Gamescom. The funny part? The game is still in Early Access on Steam.

Additionally, the team also announced that Microsoft will be the publisher when the game releases on the Xbox One, and it will be a part of the Xbox Game Preview program. Information about the release date is still tightly under wraps, though. Does this mean that we won’t get to see PUBG on the PS4? Well, no one can say for sure, as the exclusivity hasn’t been clarified explicitly. Nevertheless, it’s kind of fascinating to see an Early Access title doing so well.

For those who don’t know about the game, PlayerUnkown’s Battlegroundis a third person battle royale shooter where the last man standing wins. Players are dropped on an island where they must look for weapons and supplies in order to survive against other people. The game comes from PLAYERUNKNOWN aka Brendan Greene, the creator of battle royale game modes for titles like ARMA and H1Z1: King of the Hill.  Greene is currently co-developing PlayerUnknowns’s Battlegrounds with Bluehole.
