Nintendo NX Software Developent Kit Getting Distributed

Nintendo NX Software Developent Kit Getting Distributed

Nintendo hasn’t shared any information about what Nintendo NX would actually look like, however through a news journal WSJ, its official that Nintendo NX will be arriving soon in 2016 and software development kits for Nintendo NX are being shipped to developers.

In the Journal it was stated:

The exact shape of the NX hardware isn’t yet clear. People familar with the development plans said Nintendo would likely include both a console and at least one mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use. They also said Nintendo would aim to put industry-leading chips in the NX devices, after criticism that the Wii U’s capabilities didn’t match those of competitors.

Nintendo hasn’t announced it publicly that the platform would be offered to gamers and consumers as two separate devices or if the console and mobile device will come as a combined unit. But it does seem like the platform would further merge Nintendo’s long-separate console and handheld gaming strategies.

Update 7:00 PM: The reporter who wrote the story for WSJ, said on twitter, “Nintendo NX will have two powerful devices, packed with powerful chips”. That could be even better if that was a unified device which eventually is a blend of handheld and a console.

Wii U from Nintendo has never been a competition to Microsoft or Sony consoles. Nintendo’s newest home console, the Wii U, is clearly winding down and its successful 3DS line of handhelds is due for a major generational advance. Nintendo basically needs a new console and a new handheld and has a wide open spot in 2016 to introduce both.

According to the report from WSJ, Nintendo has begun distributing a “software development kit” for the NX platform. Nintendo is also planning to reach more developers this time so as to provide a better product.
