Nintendo Developing Zelda And Pokemon Games For Smartphones

It seems like Nintendo is going to target the smartphone aggressively, bringing more of its beloved franchises to the platform.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the company will be making a Legend of Zelda game for mobiles. The report also says that The Pokemon Company plans to release another card-based game for smartphones.

The mobile version of Zelda is supposed to release after the launch of Animal Crossing mobile game, which according to the report will be released during the second half of 2017, though it’s not concrete yet. Nintendo has said that Animal Crossing will come out sometime before April 2018. The Zelda title is being developed by Nintendo’s mobile game partner DeNA.

Nintendo has charged into the mobile platform with major titles like Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes, along with Miimoto and the upcoming Animal Crossing. Considering Zelda’s immense popularity and Breath of the Wild’s success, it only makes sense for Nintendo to want to bring the franchise to a wider audience.
