Nier: Automata Gameplay Shows You Can Revive Your Dead Self To Join You In Battle

Platinum Games’ upcoming hack and slash Nier: Automata just got a long gameplay at PlayStation Underground, and now you can have a good idea about what the game has to offer.

One of the most fascinating things is that upon death, your memories and data are uploaded to a new body before you respawn (or redeploy) for battle. Similar to Dark Souls, if you reach the point where you died, you have an option to retrieve the body and get a bonus. However, it gets more interesting. You can also choose to attempt to repair the body. If successful, you can reactivate your old body and it joins you in combat, while failure to revive will lead the body to be corrupted and turn hostile towards you.

The 29-minute footage shows a lot of other cool stuff as well, like the game’s environment and systems, with a small focus on the characters and combat. You can check out the complete video below:

Detailed information about the game can be found out on the PlayStation Blog, which talks about the battle system, levelling up, quests and aim in the post-apocalyptic world.

Nier: Automata is scheduled to release for the PlayStation 4 on 7th March, and while a launch date for the PC hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to come out later within this year.
