Marvel Rivals players are demanding a patch to address Spider-Man’s seemingly impossible attacks

Over the last few days, an increasing number of Marvel Rivals players have noticed—and even recorded—what they believe is a significant problem with Spider-Man’s area of effect (AoE). Many have long expressed frustration with fighting against Spider-Man, but now they believe they have definitive proof that his uppercut move has an unreasonably large AoE.

What’s Going on With Spider-Man?

Players have had mixed feelings about Spider-Man’s playstyle for a while. Some of the most common complaints include:

  • He’s too mobile to catch for healing.
  • Fighting him feels frustrating due to his agility.
  • He can either dominate the match or become a liability, depending on the player’s skill.

However, a recent discovery by the community sheds light on why he might be so difficult to fight against. Players have pointed out that Spider-Man’s uppercut AoE is far too large, to the point where:

  • Even if you’re 5 meters away, you can still get hit.
  • If you’re in the air, the attack can still connect.
  • Even if Spider-Man is facing the wrong direction, the move can still land.

Many players are calling this issue a broken hitbox, but as some have clarified, the problem isn’t the hitbox itself—it’s the overextended AoE of the move.

The Proof Is in the Clips

The issue has been widely discussed in the community, with many players sharing video evidence. One player, The_Mystic, captured multiple clips showing how Spider-Man’s uppercut can land in seemingly impossible situations.

He humorously remarked: “Most of the time I only find out they have a Spider-Man on their team when I suddenly get launched up in the air for no reason lol.”

For many, the issue isn’t just frustrating—it feels unfair. As one player put it: “There’s nothing worse than getting hit by something you literally didn’t see coming.”

Is It Really the AoE, or Just an Animation Issue?

While many players agree that Spider-Man’s uppercut AoE is too big, some believe that the issue is not with the AoE itself, but with the visual representation.

A player named vallummumbles defended the move, saying: “I think it’s perfectly fair for what the character is, and it just needs a better visual. It’s a 55-damage, 5-meter AoE, and only does that much damage when you use a spider tracer. Not really a huge deal.”

Another user, Birdsaintreal97, added: “They should tweak the animation to make it more accurately convey the size of the AoE. I think the ability is fine otherwise, but no one likes getting hit by something that looks like it didn’t.”

This raises an important question: is the real issue the AoE itself, or just the way it’s animated? If the animation properly showed the attack’s reach, would it feel more balanced?

What’s Next? Will the Devs Address the Issue?

As of now, Marvel Rivals’ developers have yet to comment on the issue. However, given the growing discussion and mounting video evidence, it’s possible that a balance patch or animation tweak could be coming soon.

In the meantime, players can enjoy the Galacta’s Cosmic Event over the weekend, with rumors of an exclusive Venom emote making an appearance for April Fools’ Day!

So what do you think—is Spider-Man broken, or is this just a visual issue?
