The cover art, in addition to the Master Chief, also shows a mysterious second Spartan who would be a completely new male character. In the announcement, 343 Industries also revealed that there would be even more exciting news about the Halo universe in Microsoft’s forthcoming E3 presentation, and strongly implied that we might be seeing another Halo game before the year’s end.

“I’m happy to reveal that “Halo 5: Guardians,” the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015.  In the tradition of every “Halo” game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project.”

This is a really exciting piece of news for all Halo fans, and although it does little to provide concrete information on the future of Halo, there’s sure to be plenty of speculation in the coming days and weeks.
