Genshiken’s Anime Meetup at Gaming Central HQ

Genshiken’s Anime Meetup at Gaming Central HQ

It is always fun to meet a bunch of people who gather together to discuss the latest in anime, manga, and gaming Chinese cartoons, mango and the GAEMS. Recently we organized a fun Anime Meetup with the energetic bunch of anime lovers from Genshiken – Delhi Chapter. We all had oodles of fun and nothing, NOTHING can come between us and our enjoyment! (yandere mode off) Anyhow, here is a brief recounting of stuff that went down at the meetup. We like to compare it to Professor Genki’s Super Ethical Reality Climax. Prof Genki’s S.E.R.C. loses in these comparisons.

You guys rock and it was a blast having you over.

Anyway, here is a brief record of what went down at the meetup:

2:00 PM: The meetup starts in an hour! Better open up the office and stuff, I guess. Hey, wait a minute, why are the lights and ACs off? What do you mean there is no Power?! SINCE THE MORNING!?

Oh well, better go and fetch some chips and Frooti. (Mmmm Frooti…*drool*)

(At this point, Shrey went off to holler at the power company until they give in and repair our phase.)

3:00 PM: “Welcome, all! I’m Ayush! I work here! (Points to the Gaming Central tee) Here, have some chips and frooti! Oh, you’re hot? Isn’t that a compliment? (nervous laughter) On a similar note, aren’t the power company people complete and utter bastards? (more nervous laughter) Here, eat some more chips!”

(Our office was full at this point, with me and Vaibhav trying to hang around and not look awkward. We failed.)

Basically, burgers and Minute Maid are pretty chill

What I’m trying to say is that I like McBurgers and Minute Maid.

4:00 PM Nikhill, Manas and Akshay sauntered in at some point. Man, I don’t even know at this point. Shrey also arrived around four-ish, and being the wise man he is, bought the gift of food and drink with him. Three cheers for McBurgers and Minute Maid!

4:30 PM Here we are now! Entertain Us! Since power was out due to the thunderstorm earlier (GEE, THANKS THOR!) We had to find some other way of entertaining ourselves. So we watched Kung Fury, bad puns and all. In case you’re wondering whether the movie is good or not, I will tell you this: Have you ever wondered what purpose of life is? Wonder why our ancestors bothered to come down from the trees? Well, Kung Fury is the culmination of all out hundreds of thousands of years of evolution.

5:15 PM: What have we done?/The YouTube-ing Begins Kung Fury gave way to asdfmovies and other YouTube poop (that’s a scientific term you guys! I’m serious!). Which gave way to Honest Trailers. At this point power came back on, and tired and sweaty people rejoiced for the bountiful joys of Air Conditioning and PS4.

Nerf Gun Duels There comes a time when a man (or woman) must do what a man’s (or a woman’s) gotta do. Gauntlets were not-so-somberly thrown, and I solemnly registered for the NERF gun duel, and then just as solemnly chickened out. I signed up to get brutally eviscerated at MKX instead.

Mortal Kombat X Tournament: Genshiken, you guys are seriously good at this game. We laughed at the moves, groaned at the brutalities and cheered combatants on as the tournament progressed.

You just need to see the unwavering concentration eyes to know that yes, these guys are good

Genshiken beat all of us but Nikhill at MKX. We bring shame to our company.

I got brutally eviscerated by Akshay. But it was OK as we were both hilariously bad at it.

7:30 PM All Good Things Must Come to an End We had fun. Enough fun to drag me, ME, out of my nerd cave on a weekend. And to seriously consider working more. Let that settle in for a while.

You can check out the even Here on Facebook, and if you’re interested in having fun with us, our next event takes place in July. So Gear up, Gamers!
