Gamescom 2015 Bigger Than E3?

Gamescom 2015 Bigger Than E3?

In theory, given its proximity to the winter release rush, Gamescom should be bigger than E3. In many ways, it is — it attracted 335,000 people in 2014, compared to E3’s 48,900. Yes, while E3 is (supposed to be) industry-only, Gamescom opens its doors to the general public and so the numbers are inflated. But it could also be assumed that would be incentive to the world’s games developers, allowing them to present their wares to both press and public. Yet the event is still largely seen as E3’s ‘little brother’.

Perhaps it’s fears of a language barrier, with Gamescom taking place in Germany each year, that hold it back? Or maybe it’s a matter of enduring Amero-centrism, a sense that E3 must be better simply by virtue of being held in the US of A. Maybe it’s just inertia — E3’s been going for 20 years now, and that’s always been the ‘big’ games fair, so why rock the boat?

With such a huge turn out, soon we’ll be seeing more and more developers and AAA companies. Already we had Microsoft showcasing a ton of big releases, with games like Rise of the Tomb Raider and so on.

What makes Gamescom stand out is the presence of day-to-day gamers, and not just industry specialist, which is turn gives rise to excellent cosplays as shown below.

Also open zones for gamers to hang out with friends, or simply sit back and relax, enjoying their favorite games. It’s the perfect getaway for that gamer in you. To be in the electrifying excitement of new releases, both video game and gaming hardware.

With such high-end rigs (NVIDIA Powered), loaded with your favorite games, and even yet unreleased games playable for preview, Gamescom is turning out to be the go-to event for gamers and deveopers alike. There were also dedicated VR zones, where you could go in with your friends and be blown away by unique experiences. Games like Hearthstone had their own sections, where players could challenge others and show off their skills.
