Gaming Central: Congratulations on getting 3rd in international e-sports tournament in china how are you feeling with your  performance ?

Shantanu Basu: I feel happy that I was able to make it into the top three, considering the scale of this event, however, next time, I’d like to make that trophy mine.

GC: Tell us a bit about yourself and your journey as a gamer?

SB: As a child, I grew up playing 8 bit video games, however, it was 2004 when I took up PC gaming, post which someone told me about the WCG qualifiers in Kolkata that year. Since then, there has been no looking back.

GC: Apart from Fifa what are your favorite games?

SB: Hearthstone, Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) and Max Payne are my absolute favorite.

GC: What do you have to say of e-sports in India? Is the trend growing?

SB: Yes its obviously growing as the number of online gamers and tournaments are increasing and growing day by day.

GC: Are the slew of sequels by major publishers becoming a tad boring?

SB: As a gamer, for me it’s the opposite. In fact, I eagerly wait for the sequels of my favorite games like FIFA, PES & Max Payne.

GC: So what’s your regular day like?

SB: My regular day involves a lot of gaming as you can imagine. I start and end my day in front of my PC or console. In between, I go to work. Weekends are usually the time where me and a bunch of my friends game all day, all night.

GC: What are your plans for the future?

SB: My goal is to continue to play international tournaments and bring more and more international events to India. After being signed on by an international team, ‘Tempo Storm’ this month, I’ve gotten access to an even bigger platform to participate in more events abroad, win more accolades and up my own game.

GC: Who are your current sponsors ?

SB: My current sponsors include some of my favorite gaming brands including AMD a Fortune 500 company that designs and integrates technology and powers millions of intelligent devices along with func, g2a.com and twitch tv.

Thank you for taking the time Shantanu. It’s gamers like you that inspires us other to never stop gaming, and we can’t wait to see you in action again.
