COD Advanced Warfare and Xbox One steal the show on Black Friday

While it was an average weekend for most of us gamers and geeks here in India. US, UK and Europe were having some amazing deals on Gadgets, Games etc. We were curious on how the response to the sales were and some research and we have some great data for all of you.

Advanced Warfare was the best selling game on Black Friday

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ was the best selling title for all consoles during the Black Friday weekend, based on sales data

According to the data collected by Chart-Track, sales of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare were up by 110% with the Xbox 360 version accounted for 46%. Meanwhile the PlayStation 3 version accounted for 22% of sales followed by sales for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions.

Based on the data collected, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the best selling game on a Black Friday weekend. The report attribute the high numbers to the massive sales being offered at retailers.

Some in the game media were stunned that it outsold the Next-Gen port of Grand Theft Auto V. Other games that were expected to take the top spot were Pokemon: Omega Ruby and Super Smash Bros.

Next to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, FIFA 15 took second place followed by Grand Theft Auto V and Far Cry 4.

Xbox One goes way past the competition, makes up for most of Black Friday console sales

The Xbox One had a great Black Friday but how great was it? Data sales tracking site InfoScout suggests that the console made up more than half of all console sales on Black Friday.

Specifically, the Xbox One accounted for 53 percent of console sales on Black Friday. In second was the PlayStation 4, which made up 31 percent, followed by the Xbox 360 at nine percent. The Wii U, which had very few sales, came in fourth with a meager four percent. It will be good to note that this data born of 102,000 InfoScout “panelists” who submitted more than 180,000 receipts over the course of Black Friday, 1,500 of which included console purchases. That data included purchases at all major retailers that carry electronics, according to InfoScout. Among the retailers listed are Best Buy, GameStop, RadioShack, Target and Walmart.

According to InfoScout 90 percent of all console purchases on Black Friday were of bundles, with 75 percent of the panelists saying that the included game was the major influencer on their purchase.
