Fear Effect Sedna – Review

Fear Effect Sedna is the sequel to Fear Effect, a game that the older generation of gamers will know quite well as it was notorious for its extremely hard difficulty. Fear Effect Sedna comes out 18 years after the last release of a game in this series and is a sort of rejuvenation for the franchise. Developer Sushee decided to pitch the idea to Squre Enix who decided it was worth the try and the game was then funded with the help of a kickstarter campaign. The game has been published by Forever Entertainment under license from Square Enix Collective and is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Fear Effect Sedna diverts from the mechanics of the original game to a more Isometric style of gameplay with a real time and pause based combat system. It has a heart rate...

Schacht – Review

Free running in space with various abilities and platforms describes this game perfectly. Schacht is primarily a time trial based game where you try to post the fastest time on a course that is randomly generated. The premise of the game is quite interesting since there are not a lot of games that feature this sort of gameplay elements while also turning out to be good. Schacht is a great addition to this small genre of games but it has it’s own share of shortcomings that stop this game from being a great game, so lets see what it has to offer to players. Schacht is a game developed by the Students of the Stuttgart Media University and has been published by LAB132 and is available on the PlayStation 4 and PC. Schacht is a fast paced 3D platform with a handful of mechanics that the tu...

The Station- Review

A first person sci-fi “walking simulator” set in a space station, The Station is similar to games like What Happened to Edit Finch and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and takes the player on a story driven journey. The Station is a kickstarted game developed and published by The Station, yes they chose to name themselves after the game and is out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.  So, does this game surpass games like Tacoma or Edith Finch, does it do just enough to be on their level or does it try hard and ultimately fail, let’s find out. The Station is set in a world where we have discovered a sentient alien race that may or may not know almost everything about humanity. While the senators and politicians of our planet did not know how to proceed, a secret stealth s...

Moss – Review

Moss is fun, immersive game that has made its home on the PlayStation 4 VR. This game is a VR exclusive and takes full advantage of it. It is an adventure game with loads of combat and puzzle solving and has been developed and published by Polyarc. It features a rather interesting mix of first person and third person views and has one of the most responsive and tight controls for a VR game. So lets see what makes Moss one of the best games to have graced the VR Genre, specifically the PlayStation VR. Moss is a game where you take on the role of “The Reader” who finds an old story book while wandering about in a library that is inside an old cathedral. While you start to read the book, you get transported into the world of the book and meet a young mouse named Quill who is also ...

Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition – Review

The king of JRPGs, a series that has helped us experience so many wonderful journeys, meet amazing and interesting characters has had its new release Final Fantasy XV make its way to the realm of PC Gaming. Final Fantasy XV is finally available on Windows PCs in all its glory with all the DLC and updates and not to mention, the added graphical fidelity thanks to Nvidia that makes the experience more immersive and the world more life-like. Final Fantasy XV deviated from the fundamental of all its previous games which had turn based combat to an Active Battle System. This was a great move with the addition of the “Wait Mode” which as the name suggests, allows you to pause the combat to take a breather while also letting you plan out your next attacks, spells and pretty much all y...

de Blob 2 – Review

A game that some might say was the inspiration for Nintendo’s beloved paint shooter, Splatoon, de Blob 2 is the sequel to de Blob. A game in which you play as a blob trying to restore colour to the world by painting it one stage at a time. Originally, the game released on the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 but has since been available for the PC and has now been finally released on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and was originally developed by Blue Tongue Entertainment with the PC, PS4 and XB1 ports being done by BlitWorks. And I must say, the game really does benefit from the power of the consoles of this gen. The story is pretty straightforward, the evil Comrade Black is trying to take away the colours from Prisma City with the help of INKT Corporation, a company that he ...

Gravel – Review

Gravel is a rally racing game akin to games like Dirt Rally and Sega Rally Championship that is mainly an arcade racer with a few sim elements added to it to flesh out the gameplay of the game. The title of the game makes it seem like a spin-off of the game Dirt but it is not, it is actually a completely separate game. Gravel has been developed by  Milestone S.r.l. and published by Milestone and Square Enix for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. On the surface, the game looks quite impressive so lets see if this translates into the actual gameplay or if it turns out to be just another half-assed attempt at an arcade rally racer. In terms of graphics the game has a lot to offer. The scenery is beautiful, the car textures are surprisingly good and the overall visual presentation and feel nails ...

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock- Review

Battlestar Galactica was a great TV show set in a distant part of the universe with a lot of sci-fi elements and space battles. While the show received a lot of acclaim, we never really got a game that was as good as the show. That was until the release of Battlestar Galactica Deadlock. A game set in the Battlestar Galactica universe that tries to bring everything good about the show to the player in the form of a videogame and it actually succeeds in doing so. Battlestar Galactica Deadlock has been developed by Black Lab Games and published by Slitherine Software. The game takes place during the First Cylone War as you take control of the Colonial Fleet to defend the Twelve Colonies from the Cylone hellbent on wiping you out. All of this takes place before the events of the TV Show which ...

Past Cure – Review

Past Cure is one of those games which looks very interesting with all the trailers and little tidbits of info on the story. However the game turned out to be too ambitious for it’s own good, which has been the fall for many games that have come before it. Past Cure is a third person shooter, stealth based psychological thriller that has been developed and published by Phantom 8 Studio for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. And yes, the game is a mish-mash of all those genres in case it sounds like it isn’t, so lets get right to what the game set us up for and how it delivered. Past Cure tells the story of Ian, a former elite soldier who was held against his will and tortured and experimented upon in an attempt to tap into and learn about the hidden powers of the mind. This led...

Metal Gear Survive – Review

A game that is not really a Metal Gear game but has the branding stuck onto it due to story aspects and the engine it is running. Not to mention the power that the Metal Gear name carries in the gaming industry, it is bound to sell copies. Metal Gear Survive is a survival game set in the Metal Gear Universe. Developed by Konami Digital Entertainment and Published by Konami, Metal Gear Survive is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. So, is this really a game that deserves the honour of being a Metal Gear game or is it just an attempt at a cash-grab, let’s find out. Metal Gear Survives starts off with a wormhole opening up above Mother Base which sucks a lot of things and people in, including you, a soldier aboard Mother Base. This alternate world where zombies are a plenty...

The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk – Review

Point and Click games were once the norm especially during the 80s and 90s with very few of those games being actually good. Skip a decade or two later and point and click games have mostly been phased out with the majority of new point and click games being quite underwhelming and honestly, not a lot of fun. Then comes Inner World, a point and click adventure game that took players by surprise with how good it was. From good artwork, humorous writing and interesting puzzles, it took a lot of what made point and click games fun and crafted a fun and enjoyable game. And now we have the sequel to The Inner World, The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk which further continues the story of the previous game and deals with the repercussions of our actions. The game has been developed by Studio Fiz...

Lost Sphear – Review

A Japanese Role-Playing Game with elements borrowed from the greatest and classic hits of its genres, made in the modern day to make a game that absolutely nails all of those elements with its identity. Lost Sphear is ambitious to say the least. Lost Sphear is a Japanese Role Playing Game(JRPG) developed by Tokyo RPG Factory and published by Square Enix. Tokyo RPG is the same team responsible for I am Setsuna and is considered to be a spiritual successor to it. The Lost Sphear’s premise is interesting and one that you would actually expect from a JRPG or an anime. Parts of the world, including people are vanishing and seem to transform into white voids of nothingness and our protagonist Kanata, has the ability to restore the voids back to their original forms by gathering their memor...
