Xbox One to run Audio CD Playback and DLNA Streaming

Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox One is capable of both playing audio CDs and DLNA streaming, two distinct features which distinguish it from PlayStation 4 and possibly gives it an edge over the neck and neck competition between these two rivals of the gaming world. A Sony FAQ published regarding PlayStation 4 published that the PS4 lacked some music-related functionality — virtually, that it can’t play audio CDs or MP3s and lacks a music visualizer and DLNA support. Feedback from gamers about this issue has caused Sony to start “exploring possibilities” regarding this. These issues brought the Penny Arcade Report to ask Microsoft about whether these features are supported on Xbox One. Microsoft replied saying  Xbox One will offer audio CD playback and DLNA comp...

Watch Dogs might hamper Xbox One & PS4 sales

“The delayed release of much-hyped open worlder Watch Dogs will take a bite out of next generation console sales. There’s a lot of interconnections between the things you can control in the game and how the story then unfolds, so I can only assume there’s some factor with the incredibly complex open-world gameplay that’s off. But there’s no reason Ubisoft can’t still deliver what they hoped to do with this game.” The game was originally down to release in November, in time for the launch of Xbox One and PS4, but will now see daylight in spring 2014. Ubisoft has also pushed back its next gen open world racer The Crew from mid to late 2014. Discussing both delays in an earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot insisted that this would help the publisher’...

Forza 5 to come complementary with Xbox One Pre-orders in UK

Select UK retailers are now offering a free copy of Forza Motorsport 5 on pre-ordering  the Xbox Day One Edition Console to those gamers who prefer racing over their national sport. Back in August it was announced that FIFA 14 would be given free with Xbox One Day One Edition Consoles in Europe while UK gamers have an option of going with Forza 5 instead. While pre-orders have more or less become scarce in this region, corporate Vice President of marketing, strategy and business Yusuf Mehdi announced yesterday that additional pre-order SKUs had been squeezed in worldwide. Yesterday also happened to be the day when it was announced that a free copy of FIFA 14 was bundled up pre-orders on Xbox One Day One Edition Consoles in Australia. Source: IGN

Xbox One is designed to be on for 10 years straight

The Xbox One design doesn’t really differ much from its predecessor’s. However Microsoft have really pushed the limits on their latest console, while keeping in mind the very important factor of reliability. A reliable source says that the console has been designed to run continuously for 10 years. And not only that, Microsoft have also kept in mind that while this device is designed to run for 10 years, it also needs to run silently enough, so that it is something one could keep in a living room. Its a hard combination to get right, so Microsoft went with a fairly large design which allows better heat dissipation. Although no official specifications have been declared, the Xbox One is approximately 34x26x8cm, which a considerably larger than the 360. Even though we got a prett...

Destiny to be inspired from Borderlands and Far Cry

There’s a hunt about finding the “definitive shooter,” something that many game studios seem to be working on. Bungie hopes to take Borderlands’ brand of open world shooting one step further through connected play. Destiny will allow players to level up using Talent Points, and Bungie acknowledges that it has taken inspiration from fellow open world shooters Far Cry and Borderlands. “We are absolutely doing things that would be familiar if you’ve played any kind of open-world game,” Joe Staten, Creative lead “I mean… Far Cry, even. We would be idiots if we didn’t look at an awesome game like Borderlands and ask, ‘What are they doing well and how can we try to hit that same ball?’ I have never played a game where I have such a great attachment to my gun as I do in Borderlands. “When we look...

Xbox 1 Hardware Specs

Microsoft have always known for bringing their best to the gaming table, and have always given Sony hard and tough competition. Their newest installment too isn’t anything short of a gaming sensation. The Xbox One is a really powerful device with a 8GB RAM and 64-bit processors. Even though too much isn’t known about the Xbox One GPU, a Microsoft representative had mentioned that AMD was their primary partner for the custom silicon that makes up the GPU/CPU SOC, which is the heart of the Xbox One. The Xbox One is built in such a way that it is able to communicate with servers within the cloud, which in turn increases the computation capacity of the device. Therefore, the cloud provides an unlimited number of transistors. Actual game computations can be off-loaded to servers in ...

7-Minute Gameplay Demo for Ryse: Son Of Rome

Ryse: Son of Rome was one of the more surprising games to be shown at E3. The title was originally intended for the Xbox 360 and Kinect, was canceled after hearing nothing about for two years. The title was revealed to be an Xbox One launch title at E3, however, and it even ditched the Kinect in favor of quick time events. The gameplay centers on the control of a Roman general named Marius Titus. It will feature working with Roman infantry by giving commands to them as well as quick-time event controlled finishing moves during combat. It is a historical fantasy in alternate world that is not historically accurate in either the story or the shown weapons and tactics. The story follows Marius’ life from early childhood to becoming a leader in the Roman Army. The story is described as a...

Dead rising 3 to have Exclusive Smartglass Missions

With second screens coming to life, Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3 will feature missions exclusive to players making use of Microsoft’s mobile and tablet companion tool SmartGlass, Capcom has said. In an interview with Siliconera, Capcom executive producer Josh Bridge sad that when playing the game, the SmartGlass app “actually skins your phone to be like the phone from the game’s universe.” Bridge explained how the SmartGlass exclusive content would work in Dead Rising 3. Using an accompanying SmartGlass-compatible mobile or tablet, the player will “get calls from a character that are only on the SmartGlass device. So if you don’t have SmartGlass, you won’t get those calls from that guy. Which also means you won’t get those missions.”...
