The reason why Destiny is not 60fps on the PS4 & Xbox One

Upcoming game, Destiny by Bungie is one of the few AAA games that will be scheduled to run at 1080p/30fps on both of the next gen consoles. The recent June Xbox One SDK updated helped Bungie to bump up the resolution of the Xbox One version to 1080p. But why did Bungie did not targeted 60fps? “It’s a lot of different things,” explains Jason Sussman who is the senior environment artist at Bungie. “I could get really technical, but I’d bore you to death. A lot has to do with performance. We’re cross-platform, so we had to be very delicate with all four consoles, making sure they have the same experience, that it looks as good as it possibly can on all these consoles. A lot goes into that, from geometry to textures to post effects to particles to how many players you get on the screen. We’re ...

Kraken – Evolve’s New Monster

Evolve has been generating right noises from the initial announcements. One thing that which seemed amiss was the Goliath monster, which essentially seemed like a larger version of the Tank from Left 4 Dead. It’s a natural point of inspiration, given that Turtle Rock Studios teamed up with Valve to develop that game, and therefore a good starting point, but it just wasn’t distinct enough, and quite a tame design for a beast. Thankfully, with the announcement of a new monster in the form of the Kraken, Turtle Rock has managed to create something quite unique and very exciting. It’s not an entirely new idea for a creature – it’s a Lovecraftian beast, with strong ties to Cthulu – but it’s something that hasn’t really been done in this medium before, and shows that they’re going beyond standar...

Storytelling techniques revealed in the new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer

Activision and Sledgehammer Games have put together this new trailer that shows us what exactly goes into not only making a game but how they go about portraying it through a story in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. According to creative director Bret Robbins, they are striving hard to achieve a certain level of realism in the story about future war. This process has been underway for about 3 years now and Sledgehammer has tried its best to make the most interesting and believable story possible. The studio got military veterans from several branches of the special forces involved in their production  to share their experiences and help shape the narrative. Robbins believes that these vets “bring a level of authenticity to the story.” Sledgehammer also has a special team workin...

Insane ways in which Games Predict the Future

When you think of it, maybe it’s not the best of ideas if video games predicted the future. You’d have a scenario where everybody is at war with each other or you’d find yourself in a post apocalyptic landscape about to fend off zombies or maybe in a spaceship like craft about to take on a whole lot of aliens. And quite frankly, no one would want a future which is depicted through video game. But there are times when things in videogames have, startlingly, come true. As creepy/spookily interesting as these sounds, there have been instances where video games have to a certain extent predicted the future by predicting events. We’ve got four such instances for you….fasten your seat belts. Solid Snake, The Original Edward Snowden If you want to be pedantic about it, it’s actually Raiden ...

Angry Birds Transformers–Yes, it’s true.

We’ve seen Angry Birds make the most of pop-culture in the past few years by linking up with franchises like Star Wars and of late Transformers. In what could be its most interesting mash-up till date, Rovio is joining forces with Hasbro to develop a new ‘Angry Birds Transformers‘ spin-off. This partnership will result in different mediums, a new line of Telepods toys and needless to say a new video game. Not much has been revealed about this partnership, I mean there are a few pictures floating around on the net and I believe a teaser site is already available. In short, you’ll never look at Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron in the same way again. For long-time fans, we can only sympathise.

It might be a tricky ride for Batman Arkham Knight

There are many different opinions on the upcoming Batman game. Many are of the opinion that Arkham Knight is one of the best games at the show, and with good reason. From what we could tell not only from the pictures but from others who actually played the game, it is pretty awesome. But there are certain aspects that go potentially take a turn for the worst and kill the games hype. Batman has been most people’s favorite hero. From early cartoon adaptations to Nolan’s take on the hero to the games it has recently been associated with….Batman has come a long way. But there still remain a few things that I would want to, not exactly nitpick, but would like to bring to people’s attention. 1.Storyline will be the Key The first two Batman games had pretty decent story-li...

Far Cry 4′s lead platform is PC

Good news for PS4 and Xbox One owners, but PC gamers also have a reason to rejoice. Ubisoft isn’t exactly well known for the quality of its ports from consoles to PC, especially in the realm of optimization. Far Cry 4 shouldn’t suffer from that kind of problems. Well you will have elephants in Far Cry 🙂 Far Cry 4 will be a cross platform game, which leads many to wonder what kind of differences we’ll see between the new-gen version on PC, Xbox One and PS4 and the old-gen version on Xbox 360 and PS3. Creative director Alex Hutchinson explained what we can expect during a chat on Major Nelson’s Podcast. Hutchinson mentioned that the studio wanted the gameplay experience to be the same on old gen and current gen, but the new generation version’s visuals will be much improved, also explaining ...

The Order: 1886 is More Than Just Gears of War in the Victorian Era

The Order: 1886 was a standout PlayStation 4 exclusive revealed at last year’s E3. We haven’t seen much regarding the game since last summer, and at Sony’s E3 Media Briefing this year, they again teased gamers with a visually-stunning look at how Ready at Dawn Studios is seamlessly merging cutscenes with gameplay. News of The Order only running at 30fps and the use of quick time events had many skeptical if the PlayStation Portable developers would be able to live up to the recent standard set by other PlayStation exclusives like The Last of Us. In the new footage, The Order‘s gameplay looks like more than just Gears of War in the Victorian Era, and more like a solid gaming and cinematic experience that takes its time setting up thrilling sequences and features stunning character animation...

H1Z1 presents Free-to-Play Zombie Survival to PS4 and PC

Remember the panic over H1N1? Well, imagine how much worse it would have been if it involved zombies! The recent trailer didn’t just make zombie-killer fans happy, but should’ve made pro wrestling fans happy as well with the use of one of AJ Styles’s final TNA Wrestling themes in “Evil Ways”. Zombie survival is a notable genre now, and H1Z1 is set to be the first MMO with that backdrop. The Planetside 2 engine is being used for the game, and given how fantastic that was, this should follow in its footsteps really well. H1Z1 is due out later this year for the PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. Item-crafting is a huge part of the game. You’ll use that for your weapons, and also be able to use the system to build things like a tool shed. Improvised weapons can be crafted as well. You can craft a...
