The art of Box Art :)

This time we delve a bit deep into the Science of Box Art, so lets get started 🙂 From the day we’re born to the day we die, everyone always tells us, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Well, tough. I’m going to judge because who the hell has time to read that shit anymore? But when it comes to dropping $60 on a brand new game, bad box art can send up all kinds of red flags.                                                             In this case, they all scream “pedo”. In the days before gaming mags, review websites and my brother(Hi Adi! I’m out of the pit. And I’m coming for you) a kickass box art was all that we had to go on while spending hard earned cash on the latest brain-fart by our second favourite publisher. But times have changed since then. We now have Wi-Fi and streaming porn...

Ever know how much running Mario does in Super Mario Bros.?

People who can manage a 5k run now have another reason to pat their own backs because they can now say to themselves, “I just finished Super Mario Bros.” Nick Greene Mental Floss calculated that Mario runs about 5.4 kms from world 1-1 to world 8-4. He got these numbers by taking into consideration the distance of each level, and approximating Mario’s strides to that of an average man. This calculation is only based on a straight from start to finish, backtracking and skipping levels are not accounted for. The levels which include Mario to swim are about 371 meters, which is more than 7 laps in an Olympic pool. Only if he had a level where he’d peddle his way to victory, in his case finding his princess, he’d qualify for a triathlon. “Speed Demos Archive, ...

Ubisoft on Half LIfe 3– “No Idea When it Will Be Out”

Let us take a moment to commend those Half Life 3 supporters that have literally had to wait a lifetime and probably more at this rate. They just don’t seem to want to give up at all–even though chances are that the game may not even come out in their lifetime. Some supporters took to the official Watch Dogs Facebook page asking when Half Life 3 will be out….no seriously, they did! It does sound pretty funny but you can feel for those guys who want nothing more than a few answers. I mean it has been quite a while, and now Ubisoft is part-taking in the fun by simply replying “we have no idea when Half Life 3 will be out. If you find out, let us know.” Really loved how they’ve taken everything in their stride! What do you’ll think is the future to this game, wil...

A report by Variety said that there was more than a possibility that the game Dead Rising would take to the big screen. It is to be produced by Legendary Pictures (The Dark Knight, Inception, The Hangover) and would be the first project the studio’s Legendary Digital Media department will undertake. If the movie is anything close to this, then we’d be pretty excited about it! Dead Rising will initially be released on Sony’s Crackle service, which offers viewers free, ad-supported video content in North America (its UK service closed down on April 1). The film would be distributed worldwide by Content Media and will be released on Video On Demand, DVD and TV. Ubisoft to make more Open-World Games because they feel “gamers want more freedom”

In a recent interview, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot told why the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry publisher is working on more open-world games. Guillemot says that games like Watch Dogs, The Crew, Far Cry 4 or The Division do appeal to gamers much more allow a certain level of freedom among players because they allow players a more free-form experience instead of a linear and directed one. “We think that gamers want more freedom,” Guillemot said. “They also want games that they can play for quite a while, because there are less games now. The open-world genre gives us the possibility to offer different gamers different types of experiences. We think they are better adapted to the diversity of gamers that are in the market at the moment.”   Guillemot went on to say t...
