Assassin’s Creed Pirates Free This Week on iOS

Only those who have played Assassin’s Creed Black Flag will know exactly what Assassin’s Creed Pirates entails. And it just so happens that this week Ubisoft has made this mobile gaming app free for iOS. The game is all about naval warfare, which is more to do with strategy and stuff like that rather than running around hoping from island to island killing animals to upgrade your armor. You’ll be doing other stuff like upgrading your ship, recruiting new crew members, and fighting enemy ships. In other related news, Ubisoft has also released their fourth content update for the game. Ubisoft has periodically released these free updates since the game’s launch. This particular add on opens new areas–La Isla de la Juventud, in which you must take down a fortress ...

Cliff Bleszinski, the Gears of War creator has already told us about his upcoming free-to-play PC shooter currently titled Project BlueStreak, but we don’t know when to expect it? While we wait for the game, there is a piece of concept art that was released last night. The picture shows a city being approached by a huge storm of rain and fierce lighting. In the foreground, we see what appears to the Hollywood sign, which would suggest the city in question in Los Angeles. But if that’s the case, what are those rivers? Project BlueStreak, a free-to-play multiplayer arena shooter for PC, is Bleszinski’s first new project sinceleaving Epic Games in 2012. The game is in development at startup studio Boss Key Productions in Raleigh, North Carolina. Source: Eddie Makuch

But at this point, the game has taken on a life of its own.” To give you an idea of where this humongous figure can be put into place, Electronic Arts’ free-to-play mobile game The Simpsons: Tapped Out took more than a year to reach $100 million in lifetime revenue. This live-action Splinter Cell prequel looks insane

The Splinter Cell is a new live-action movie from Atomic Productions that charts the life of Sam Fisher before he joined the Third Echelon. Expect terrorists, gunplay and of course, those iconic night vision goggles.   The move was written by Andrew Adams and produced by Ben and Andrew Adams. We’ll have more on the project as it progresses, but Ben told me over email that Atomic Productions is aiming to have the film ready before the end of July. For now, here’s a theatrical poster:   Source: VG247

Rocksteady Studios have announced Batman: Arkham Knight will be the final game of the awesome series. It looks like the series will go out with a bang with lots of new characters rumored to join. The IMDB voice cast for Batman: Arkham Knight was updated and featured some new names. It has since been reverted back to only showing the announced characters. Why Games can make great TV Content

Gaming and TV have always been such uneasy bed-fellows, wouldn’t you say? Apart from giving us a screen on which to project our innermost fantasies and perversions through the medium of console gaming, the humble idiot box has done deplorably little to capitalise on its shared DNA with our favourite time-sink. Instead, we get this. But here’s a thought. With game-to-film adaptations falling flat, what if we shift focus to the small screen? Games have it all; compelling plots, relatable characters and more explosions and dragons you can shake a remote at. I mean, it’s not like we have anything better to watch on our 50 inch flat screens anyway. In a world where a show featuring the horribly tanned plastic people above can get green-lit, why haven’t the following games become serials yet? Yo...

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has a new trailer

This weekend saw the release of a new trailer for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Halo 2 will receive additional visual treatment for its 10th anniversary, similar to what Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary got for Xbox 360 in 2012. However, the 343 panel at RTX said there are no plans to do the same for Halo 3. Keith David, of course, reprises his role as voice of The Arbiter in the re-release, in which players may tour a remastered Halo: Combat Evolved through Halo 4 — every mission, every difficulty, every game mode unlocked from the start. Additionally, 343 Industries told the RTX audience that the popular “Coagulation” map will be one of the six remastered for multiplayer.

Kinect is your backseat driver in Forza Horizon 2

Forza Horizon 2’s Creative director Ralph Fulton revealed that the game will feature a “digital personal assistant”, ANNA, who has Something To Do with Kinect. Voice controls for steering? Car doorlocks with retina scanners? The ability to detect when you’re zoning out, and activate the autopilot just before you plough into a 15th century chapel? Time will tell. Forza Horizon 2’s massive new world could last you “over 100 hours”. ANNA is Forza Horizon 2’s equivalent of a GPS system, and will allow you to quickly set waypoints on the map and find nearby events. The entire system is integrated with Kinect voice control, so you don’t have to whip out the map and manually do things. That’s the way gaming worked in the past, friends. “It offers op...
