Whether you’re a PC gamer, an Xbox One enthusiast or a PS4 fanatic, each platform has their own pros and cons. This article will focus on the perks of being a Xboner. We’re going through a whole bunch of games that only Xbox One gamers will ever get their hands on. Each and every game has a certain characteristic that makes it stand out from the rest. Without further delay, here is the list.
Recore
Release Date: September 13, 2016
From the makers of Mega Man and Metroid Prime comes this Star Wars Pod-racing set based Xbox One exclusive. It’s hard to say what this game has in store for us as of now, but from the trailer we can see it takes place in desert ruins and follows a girl along with her pet robot, whose life-line seems to reside in a blue sphere. The trailer doesn’t give a lot but the game seems to be based on an interesting idea and is in good hands.
Gears of War 4
Release Date: October 11, 2016
Epic Games, after making four Gears of War titles, has decided to move on and leave the franchise in the hands of Microsoft. And with a series as popular as Gears of War, you would assume that Microsoft would do something with it. And so they did by handing the Xbox One exclusive over to The Coalition (formerly Black Tusk Studios). The trailer does show promise, but only time will tell. However, we can assume that Microsoft considers this game one of the premier Xbox franchises and will treat it accordingly.
Cuphead
Release Date: 2016
The trailer looks like one of those cartoons from the 1930’s and less like a video game. The story is simple, the main characters lost a deal they made with the devil and now have to defeat bosses to repay the debt. The bosses (or at least what we assume are the bosses) vary in shape and size and presumably have distinct powers and abilities. If the game is as fun to play as it is to watch, it might just be a welcome title to the Xbox One family.
Halo Wars 2
Release Date: February 21, 2017
In Halo Wars 2, you are put in charge of an army of Spartan soldiers and have to face a deadly new faction known as The Banished. Their chief, the Brute warlord Atriox, is a perfect blend of both a deadly warrior and brilliant military leader. The key is to know your enemy.
P.S – The trailer is quite a treat to watch, so much so that I got these screens from the it to show you how well it was made.
Crackdown 3
Release Date: 2017
Wait, I didn’t know Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was in a video game? Actually he kinda looks like Idris Elba too. Well we all know now what a love child between The Rock and Idris would look like. The Crackdown series follows a futuristic cop in a corrupt city overrun by violent gangs. The game allows you to grow your character, who starts off as a very normal guy but is leaping across buildings by the end of it. I feel that this game will allow a gamer to craft their own story– “It’s not just what you can do with a gun, it’s the opportunities you can create with destruction.”
Sea of Thieves
Release Date: 2017
From a trailer that looks a lot like the Angry Birds movie, Rare Studio brings you a sea-faring title that involves sailing ships, engaging in cannon battles and fighting fantastical creatures while looking for treasure with an eye-patch and a talking parrot on your shoulder. It’s honestly hard to tell what this game has to offer, we’ll just have to wait and watch.
P.S- I was joking about the eye patch and talking parrot bit.
Scalebound
Release Date: 2017
You start the trailer with the “How To Train Your Dragon” feel before it quickly shifts into a “Game of Thrones” feel before you see a pair of headphones around the dude’s neck and then start wondering if you’re watching the first Shrek movie. From the makers of Bayonetta 2 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Platinum Games now bring you to a fantasy game of epic proportions. You play as an adventurer who travels to a distant world full of monsters, lucky for you, you befriend one almost at the start of the game.
State of Decay 2
Release Date: 2017
The opening shot from this trailer looks like a scene from a Johnny Knoxville movie. With a slight comical twist to it, State of Decay 2 follows in its predecessor’s footsteps by serving up another zombie survival role-playing game. Surviving an apocalypse is always more fun when you’re doing it with your best buds, isn’t it? The game features up to four-player co-op multiplayer.
Ashen
Release Date: TBA
Much like the expressionless faces of the title characters in the game, very little is known about this quiet, dark, atmospheric game. This teaser sure does make me anxious to see what this game actually has to offer. According to developer Aurora44, “At its core, Ashen is about forging relationships. Players can guide those they trust to their camp – together, you might just stand a chance.” I’m not entirely sure what they meant by that, but that only makes me want to play this game even more.
I think I’ve covered most of the games that should be covered, in case there is a game that should be on this list, please tell me in the comments below.
