A Headset That Cures Gamer Rage

A Headset That Cures Gamer Rage

Visual designer Samuel Matson has come up with an idea which would really be of use to people like us. He has come up with an idea on how to rid the world of gamer rage. And it’s not through the conventional methods of medication, counselling or discipline. It’s simply through prevention.

Sounds fairly simple doesn’t it. So here’s the science behind this idea. He’s basically made a headset called Immersion, which uses biometrics to monitor a user’s heart rate. And here’s the insane part, it actually uses the biometrics to adjust what’s going on in a game accordingly.

Based on researching a number of gamer’s heart rates while playing a shooter, and using a raw prototype hooked up to an Xbox 360, the Immersion is functioned to gently adjust the difficulty and content of a game based on how the player was feeling.

This is sorta the same stuff Nintendo had in mind with the  now-dead Vitality Sensor. But given his idea has both community and game design benefits, hopefully he can get it made! We’d sure as hell want one!
