Auto Expo 2018 is any car lover’s dream destination, and Honda, with its new launches and concepts has made sure these dreams come true. Not only did the automobile giant reveal three new cars set to be launched in India during 2018-2019, they also showcased some amazing concept models showing what their future forward approach is capable of.
Honda unveiled the 5th-gen Honda CR-V along with the 10th-generation Honda Civic, both of which will be available for the first time in diesel variants in India. The new Civic will have a petrol variant as well. It looks has a much bolder design compared to its predecessors, and looks larger too. It has an All-on display, keeping everything that you need to see within sight so you can enjoy the scenery pass you by. With plush interiors and state of the art electronics, it has the potential to be a highly sought after luxury sedan.
The new Honda CR-V is a beast in itself. While the overall design looks identical to the current model, the new model comes with angular headlamps and L-shaped taillights. Where the difference becomes much more noticeable is with the interiors. A lot of care has been put into making sure the car looks and feels premium, and it seems to have paid off. There’s a touchscreen in the dashboard as well, giving the driver total control over the electronics.
Another major launch that received much deserved attention was the 2nd generation Honda Amaze with a completely new, redesigned look. It looks a bit like the Civic in terms of style, going with a more aggressive approach in design. Not only do the cars look attractive, they also come with state of the art technology to take your driving experience to a whole new level. They feature Continuous Variable Transmissions (CVT) that optimize the engine for fuel efficiency. One focus area has been safety, with the Honda Sensing suite of assistive technologies that provide the best safety measures you can hope for in a car.
Speaking of state of the art technology, we’d be amiss if we didn’t talk about the incredible concept vehicles showcased at the booth. The Honda EV is the perfect example of something that’s both classy and environment friendly, while the NeuV is a whole different league, where the car assists the driver based on their emotional readings. It’s this kind of future forward thinking that makes one wonder about the innumerable possibilities. Turning those possibilities into reality is another gem, the fuel cell powered Honda Clarity. Unfortunately, it’s not feasible to have the Clarity FCV available widely due to a lack of hydrogen filling stations, especially in India. Even in the US, the car is offered on a lease-only basis. Nevertheless, it’s an exciting time for car fanatics, and year after year, Honda makes sure to live up to the expectations.
